Seems like every manufacturer will have to include a solution like this with the 3090 Ti because the weight is such a big issue.

From kick stands to a dog leash for gpus. Maybe just make a card that doesn't sag and break the mobo slot. Maybe work on that as "innovation" cause what you got now doesn't cut it
@Mildly_Amused
@Mildly_Amused 2 жыл бұрын
They could put on a tiny cooler that doesn't weight much and doesn't effectively cool the GPU. The GPU would overheat and thermal throttle. Then you would be happy because the card wouldn't sag.
@evaone4286
@evaone4286 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mildly_Amused you know what, a tiny cooler would be perfect. They have years of technology they are hiding and I'm sure they have newer tech that runs at 1/4 of the temps and overall weight of the current generation cards.
@TheHavocInferno
@TheHavocInferno 2 жыл бұрын
@@evaone4286 no, that's not how physics work. Heat needs to be dissipated. More heat needs bigger coolers. You can't cheat physics. The only way to reduce the weight of the card itself is to move the heat somewhere else before dissipating it. I.e. watercooling. Which just puts the heatsink (radiator) somewhere else, but still needs similar surface area, weight and volume as a comparable air cooler. There is no "hidden technology" that can cool this kind of heat in a much smaller form factor.
@evaone4286
@evaone4286 2 жыл бұрын
@@TheHavocInferno You don't know what technology they have. I'm 100% positive they have way smaller cards or just technology in general. New tech doesn't mean tech that consumes more, heats more, is heavier and is more expensive. It's about going smaller and we can clearly see that move in the industry. You're being very foolish about the whole topic in general, do some research and you'll see.

It's not really EVGA's fault the 3090 Ti is a power hog (500W+). They didn't architect the chip. Thats on Nvidia and if the rumors are anything to go by the RTX 4000 series is going to be a major power hog. Honestly considering how much power this thing draws its impressive it gets the temps it dose at the noise level it dose (according to the review from Gamers Nexus).

@TEAMEVGA - Are you guys planning on making the Power Link Adapter for the 30 series cards at all ? :) As I thought that was a really neat idea and looks a lot cleaner. As I have the 3080 Ti FTW3 and requires 3 x 8 Pin connectors so please could you include this If you decide to make them. Cheers.

@@spi-killazinc9750 I bought mine at launch, so I've had it for about 5 years or so. I still think I'm going to go with EVGA for the 4000 series, since their QC seems to be one of, if not the best. When spending that kind of money, I know it's shitty to worry about failures, but in general I just have bad luck with my tech. The fact that my GPU has been failing for about a month now, but can still perform daily tasks, and play low GPU usage games should be viewed almost as a testament to how it won't give up, rather than it dying.

Love eVGA and have/will always buy their video cards. However, this is hilarious IMO... rather than address the way overdue overhaul of whole card heatsink and IC solderability to stop killing cards, "here, strap the thing up to your case!". nVidia really needs to think about redesigning/mirroring the whole card so the thing faces up, and we can use backplates that would actually help the rigidity in the direction that its needed. This is a hilarious stop-gap though... you know, assuming you ever get the privilege of spending $2k for one of these before 2025 :)
@snowbind
@snowbind 2 жыл бұрын
To invert the gpu would require a huge motherboard redesign in most cases. GPU sag has been an issue for decades and enthusiasts have been making supports for a similar amount of time. Heat dissipation is hard and is mostly solved through surface area. There is not a lot else that can be done for people choosing to run on air.
