yea i dont know about 40-50 C at stock fan settings but atleast for me, it sticks around high 60s and low 70s when im playing games at a stable 1949 mhz. But i always put my fan to around 75 percent when I am gaming and since i have a headset, the noise can't bother me and it's not even loud. At 75 percent I can obtain temperatures in the 50's depending on how the room temperature is at and I also get a stable clock speed of either 1992 Mhz to 2000 Mhz. I wanna learn how to overclock cus i know this card has so much potential in it!

I had to exchange/upgrade my new EVGA 1070 FTW at NewEgg because they are now using Micron GDDR5 instead of Samsung GDDR5. This is due to low supply of Samsung modules. The Samsungs will OC up to +700-800MHz. The Micron Memory has a hard time with stability at +200MHz . This is happening with most of the 1070 AIB partner boards. Just download GPUZ and then it will tell you which modules you have. The GPU clock was great on this card and the cooling was great. I'm sure it's a memory beast with the Samsung Modules. The Micron modules really let me down. NewEgg let me upgrade to an EVGA 1080 FTW HYBRID. I am super happy now.

Thanks! The software does report that I have the micron type memory. But I'm confused, you said that the micron memory has problems with +200mhz overclocks. My 1070 FTW has a default GPU clock of 1607mhz and can OC to around 2100mhz. How is that possible if it's a micron? Also, how would a buy know what type of memory (Micron or Samsung) a video card has before ordering? Is there a way to check, or can we only find out once the card is in our possession?

Hi. When I said the Micron memory has problems with +200MHz overclocks I was referring to Memory overclocks not GPU overclocks. I am not referring to GPU overclocks. There is no way to know which memory modules (Samsung or Micron) are built into the 1070 until you get it. My GPU was overclocking just fine all the way up to 2100MHz and a little beyond with no problem. Not gonna lie mate this was probably one of the most in depth reviews I've seen for a while. You should be proud of yourself. Not only did you basically pull the graphics card apart and talk about every detail but you also adding in all of the other little facts that most reviewers leave out! i.e the RGB lighting, A LOT of reviewers have mentioned the RGB lights but never actually showed what you can do with them. I just found and really love your channel. I've always wanted to know more about graphics cards, but always been busy and felt daunted by the complexity of all there is to know. Your videos have been incredibly helpful, especially the one on which cards to buy this fall. That's informing some purchases I'll be making shortly. I love that you show the card's performance with different games and make suggestions about resolution and monitors. It's a small detail but, I'm a pretty shy person. I wanted top tier 2k gaming, nothing to do with VR or 4k and this card. This card was the result. Paired it with ViewSonic XG2703-GS, still rocking a 990x i7, 16g, running battlefront 2, mass effect Andromeda, shadows of war, doom, etc.. all at max settings no problems. Great card.

Oh okay, it was announced a couple weeks ago that the FTW cards don't have thermal pads for the vram and it has caused some people's cards to fry, EVGA has brought out fixes for it such as providing thermal pads for you to put on or simply replacing broken cards all together. I really want this card but I don't want to have to worry about it breaking on me so that's why I was asking if yours was pre applied with the pads because they said that supposedly every card sold after Nov. 1 has the fix applied to them.

You don't need to really, there is a bios fix which increases fan speeds and you will overheat at only extreme conditions. People report around 80 degrees under heavy gaming, which isn't cool, but it shouldn't put your PC in flames.

Not exactly. There's no 1070 that can perform like a 1080 does. However an overclocked 1070 comes close to a stock 1080 in performance, but still the 1080 would obviously be more powerful hence the higher price tag etc.

HELP!! my gtx's 1070 FTW fans ALWAYS spin. why? no the temperature is not above 60 C. its autumn now and the room temp must be around 20 C. GPU at 28 C, 0% load.

늪지대 It will work but there will be limitations when boosting the clock, when you try to clock much as 2.0GHz it will throttle to avoid getting CPU overheat or cause damage to components. If you have the K variant of i5 6500, then you can overclock your CPU and then your GPU, that will not bottleneck.

kotsios antoniades My 970 plays it at 40-60 fps at max... and the 1070 is better than 970s in sli (or a 980 ti). Also, 1440p is almost twice the resolution as 1080 and the 1070 is known as a good 1440p gpu. I'm pretty sure it should pull at least 85.

it depends on what rig you have though...good psu......processor etc. 40fps is shit at most games, you need that 55+ all the times at least and am talking at max settings in 1440p and the 1070 does well with a good rig. espiecialy the 6700k proccesor clocked at 4.5 ghz

5 Years later, I have the same Graphicscard and nearly the system like yours. My specs: MSI Z170 Gaming M5 with an overclocked core I5 6600K on 4.5GHZ with 16GB Corsair Venegance LPX @ 3000MHZ XMP 2.0, 580watt powersupply Bequiet StraightPower 80 +Gold. Samsung Evo NVME M2 SSD 512GB. The system is cooled by an AIO Watercooler 240 MM Radiator. My Graphiccard runs a little bit better than yours. My CPU is overclocked on 4.5 GHZ Stable on 1,275volt V.Core , my ram works with 3000MHZ on XMP mode. I overclocked the GPU too. but only +120MHZ Coreclock and set the power target on 112% My Firestrike results are incredible, nearly 21000 Points. The card has holding the boostclock by 2066MHZ on 71°C degrees . This EVGA 1070 FTW is a real Monster. Still a decent GPU for midrange Gaming .

i had 3 of them! all 3 had a little coilwine issue! not very loud but anoying to sensitive ears. i testet them in diffrent systems and even let the customer support in the diffrent stores test them. they took them back off me and gave me a replacement. 1.coil wine starts in any game and at any framerate even with vsync enabled! 2.memory is not overclocked at all, 3.older card models lack thermal pads beneath the front- and backplate. therefor memory and power phases can reach critical temps do to trapped heat if not massively aircooled. software will only show u the gpu temp but that does not mean the card is not gettin hot in other critical areas.this video is just a hype.they are good cards but they have problems that need to be adressed to. EVGA offers to ad the missing thermal pads if u send them your card or they can send u a mod-kit with instructions to do it urself. If u order a new card from them the pads are allreaddy installed. more overclocking does not bring much on air cooling the card will reduce the clock frequency when gettin hot. even massive aircooling does not change that. only water cooling could make it possible. i talked to EVGA on the service phone line about it: they dont give any recommendation or advice for installing a water cooler to this card". i was disapointed.

Factory overclocked cards are nothing more than a marketing scam... All 1070s will manually overclock to 2100Mhz ... Calling it a factory overclock is ridiculous. It's the same chip with the exact same potential... ACX 3.0 is the same too... So essentially you've paid a $50 premium to get 12 cents worth of LEDs and a useless backplate which actually insulates heat rather than dissipate it.

Give people sooooo many options and try and confuse them, especially guys with lots of $ to drop but not much know-how, they sucker them in first and foremost. There is hardly any dignity or honesty anymore in true quality and performance and giving the customer what they actually pay for, respectively. Theres plenty of fuckin pride though, they all have that!! overflowing out of their greedy asses. But its all short lived. As hardware lifespans get shorter and shorter due to the fact devs want to push withheld technology out now quicker and quicker to cash in on those dollars theyre salivating over more and more, youll see this get worse I have no doubt about it. I mean just look at the ones I listed and see the trend following them. And if anyone doesn't think this is the case, mark my words it is. Ive seen this long ago coming to fruition. The excuse will be that its for your benefit as the "consumer" to give you more choices. And if you don't want the "extra options" they'll say "don't buy it, you don't have to". The problem is that's bullshit, this is just a ploy for more cash, when all cards/tvs/phones/pcs etc etc could perform soooo much closer to the same specs right out the box, and there would be no more need for 17000 different models. I had over 60fps average on Shadows of Mordor... This can't be right... Your set up should have equaled or beat mine no? My Firestrike graphics score is around 21,000... Awe of Tech Hoping to see maybe a comparison of the new card and the old one? I was just doing some benchmarking to see how my OC'd Strix 980 ti compared to the 1070 because I saw one for sale for $550 Canadian (cause I am Canadian :) and was thinking of getting it.. When I compared my card to the numbers though I was shocked at how low your results were. I do have my 980 ti at 1391 on the core which puts up 1508 on the hardware monitor and the memory at 2000 showing 8000 on the hardware monitor.. Still, it should be much much closer to a 1070 from everything I have read.

Sebastian Prayoga Strix and only Strix . I heard that Strix cards can overclock more and I believe in that. Btw I will buy 1070 Strix and I think that it is best of all 1070s

marko4377 that is luck. i had gtx 1060 strix. wasnt even able to get over 2k mhz.^^ and i wouldnt go again for a strix cuz its not that quiet
