I do really admire Kramarenko, Averinas, Mamun and Kudryavtseva (maybe the best of them, even if I deeply love Rita) in the last years.Other italian, ukrainian and bielorussian gymnasts have been remarkable. But nobody come colse to this. This si art. 10 in difficulty is an incredible hard work training and the execution is flawless. As Merkulova was a difficult obstacle because she was the rising star ( and maybe the one supposed to win?) I do not really know how she could stay that focus and that confident. It takes A LOOOOT of mental strenght for your stomach not to crack in this situation. Excellent gymnast. Amazing Human Being.

i have to recognize her iron mind,she had as a rival merkulova, not really a good gymnast,but clearly the favorite of viner in that time, while she was never, she had to show her superiority to got an assicured olympic spot

Because that "bit**" deserves to. Your comment is so horrible and disgusting. Evgenia deserved every gold medal she won. She worked hard, SO SO hard to get to her level of technique. The Russian team are pushed beyond their limits and cry so many tears. On top of it all, Evgenia was a wonderful person, beautiful inside and out. So humble and kind to everyone. @@iloveluhan9307 I agree with almost everything you said, but I would argue that she deserved all the gold she got. In 2009, at the World Championships in Japan, the judges awarded her the gold medal with a ribbon, despite the fact that Zhenya dropped it. Besonova should have won that gold. Many years have passed since then, but it still bothers me a little.
