Awesome Euge! The first amp I ever really wanted when I first started playing guitar was a Peavey 6505+ and I could never afford one, then fast forward 7 or 8 years later and I scored the EVH 6L6 50w head and it's my favorite amp! I'm glad I got the one with concentric knobs. Also loving the Peavey 6505MH I just recently purchased after talking to you on Instagram. Your level of professionalism and your casual but enthusiastic attitude make you one of my favorite people to watch. Keep rocking Euge! :)

Hi Euge, Kerry in Houston Texas checking in my friend. Great video as usual. Love your guitar playing and songs/noodling. I just happen to own one of these amps. Ya.... more gain than most people need. It's a beast basically. But you know I love my TSL 100 too. Wanted to tell you that your live stage presents is rules your stage. Okay....you have your vocalist that people pay attention to, but you are the biggest guy on stage and look great up there playing your guitar and ruling the stage. Just had to say that. I like how you corrected the out of tune G string on Eddie's guy. I'm like you, I have a good ear and can't play my guitars out of tune. I'm am recovering nicely from my 10 hour surgery I had a few weeks ago. Staying strong with God's help and love watching your videos that help too. Thank you Euge for being a good guy. You are a pleasure to watch. Keep up the good work. I will check in later. All the best my friend, Kerry out and may God's blessing be on you. 🤠🎸👍✌️

Thanks! That is the safest bet ’cos amps usually works the best / like the designer has designed them with the matching cabs. But IMO one can’t go wrong with a Marshall 1960 Vintage or BX cabs either. I have those cabs in my studio and they do the job great no matter the amp / music style etc.

I had one of these several years ago. The main problem I had at that time was trying to tame the volume at home. It seemed like the channel volume controls had almost no taper, just started blasting loud when barely on. It also did not have the concentric pots for the green and blue channels, which was a huge problem. I ended up getting rid of it, but after hearing this demo and also figuring out that I just needed an attenuator, I wish I had kept it. :)

Great as usual ! I've had a few 5150iiis and think they all sound great. But the cons include: power, standby and presence all on the back; poor volume sweep (loud super quick); cheapish build quality (dials and buttons a bit loose and flimsy), and I had all kinds of problems saving MIDI (it would program but not save). I went Mesa TC-50.

I have the first version since early 2012 and since I have the EL34 I have kind of forsaken the 6L6 mostly because of the volume's difference between CH1 and CH2. Your video gave me desire to plug it again, and it was the first time for 10 years that I could have cranked it with the help of my powerstation I purchased few month ago... and honestly I wasn't aware how much I missed it... it's a killer amp and maybe easier to manage than the EL34 version => less gain on CH2, EQ a little bit better balanced, less brightness because of the 6L6...

Do you think this amp could pull of those classic Mesa Boogie mark amp crunch and thrash tones? I had a mark V 35 head on back order for the last 18 months and Mesa have now cancelled the order through the shop I ordered it with stating they can’t deliver to the UK until 2023 at the earliest so I am now looking for a suitable replacement for a high gain amp. I have a jcm 900, mini jubilee, rockerverb and PRS mt15 but none seem to get close enough. If not a 5150 would you recommend another similar amp? Cheers
@EugeValovirta230V2 жыл бұрын
I guess only a Mesa can do Mesa and 5150 can do 5150 etc. but this is a great amp and I can’t really think of a tone I couldn’t get out from this. I mean the sound is mostly in a player’s hands and amps just amplify that. I sound like myself no matter the gear so…😎.

Great review.. funny.. your playing of EVH sounds like Euge.. lol.. the style is certainly in the hands.. nicely done.. which amp is noisier.. the EVH or the Peavey?
@EugeValovirta230V2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That’s how it is with any player IMO 👌😎. All amps are noisy the more gain you add. There’s not much differences IMO.
@Lavabug2 жыл бұрын
With similar gain levels, the Peaveys are noisier due to the longer signal paths in the amp. You can max out the gain on the blue and it's still lower noise than the Peavey halfway up the gain. Red channel on the EVH can surpass the Peavey though but it's too much. It's still less noisy with stupid high gain levels.
@TavaresProject2 жыл бұрын
Euge, I think this is the revoiced channel 2 version. The original 50watt(non concentric knobs) had the channel 2 voiced different than the channel 3...and then later on they voiced it to sound like the channel 3. What production year is that one?
