I agree, but to clarify, "protect and serve" is the motto of LAPD. Sadly cops aren't obligated to protect civilians, there's been many cases where people die due to inaction by law enforcement and %99.9 of the time they are found to have done nothing wrong. Their "job" is to write tickets, make arrests, and protect themselves and their own interests.

Here is the sadistic thing, sure this may make you distrust cops, but what about those you were traveling with? In the back of someones mind could linger, did they?, would they?, why would they do/cause this to happen to me? Eff the cop and prosecute, but in the cases where this didn't get called out or caught, what about the false accusation ruining lives of people that never doubted each other until something like this happens? What about the coworker that gives their pal a ride home and for 'reasons' gets stopped and your buddy is carrying? You can argue association and such, but what if it was a lie? The fact that the legal system states and accepts that authorities can legally lie to you in an effort to catch you in a lie is abhorrent to humane behavior; but then when told what the penalties are and their options, choose to take a plea bargain to avoid the harsher sentence, even when they know it is a lie. It is a pity so many in positions of authority treat their job with no self respect.

These are people lying that they are desperate for employment. No they’re desperate for the dumbass Yes- men that they hire. I’ve had departments tell me they don’t know their own mission statement (this is where my uncle was sheriff and they still rejected me just because I chose to intern in my own county) I had departments lie that I’d get an interview to my face after my ride-alongs , I’ve had recruits who were the nastiest people I’ve ever met tell me I’d never be a cop and I didn’t even fucking know them. And you know what? I’m fucking glad I never became a pig.

@@AliciaBledowska I live in the UK, my dad had a friend who joined the police force. He ended up quitting because all of his colleagues were corrupt. They would steal valuable items from houses which had been burgled when they were investigating. From what I understand, and I could be wrong, police in the US are more corrupt than ours in the UK. Either way all US police officers are armed which is why we get idiots shooting at innocent people because they heard an acorn fall
