We might not have God of War Ragnarok over here on Xbox, but what we do have is Evil West: a co-op brawler set in an alternate, horror-themed Wild West. If ever there was a videogame pitch written specifically for our own Andy Farrant, it would be this one.

This game does look like a good time, i wouldn't mind seeing more of these types but with different fantasy, science fiction and adventure themes. i'd want there to be things that make each unique, i just like the idea of beating the crap out of enemies with multi hit combos and destroying set pieces.

I agree, too many games these days seem to try to as realistic as possible and throw in a bunch of extras like crafting that add little to nothing to the game. We need more over the top arcade type games like this.

GAME BREAKING GLITCH ALERT! mission "man of the people" promts you to destroy 5 baddie nests after you clear a group of baddies MAKE SURE to destroy the nest before leaving the area. Leaving the area before destroying the nest will render the nest unable to be blown up and there is no way to restart levels leaving your only option to start over from the begining and "man of the people" is late game pretty much ruined a great experience.

I made it around 80% of the way through the game before I finally accidentally discovered exploding TNT doesn't hurt you. Makes it a lot simpler to get enemies in the blast that way.

Strongly recommend "Monster of the Week" as a TTRPG for y'all. An urban fantasy setting, similar to Blades in the Dark mechanically. You could choose on a tonal spectrum from Xfiles, to Supernatural, to Scooby Doo; with action much like Buffy, Dresden Files, and Supernatural again.

An issue though is that only the host gets any sort of progression. The partner doesn't even get any experience or anything. At least that's the case from what I've heard.

Wow didn’t even know it was able to be played in co-op. I picked the game up today and im really enjoying it I don’t understand some of the hate it got from some reviewers. Its a solid game nothing earth shattering just fun to play. And now that i found out it has co-op i got play it with a friend. It can be a little rough around the edges but as long as the combats fun im in.

All the swearing in that last cutscene that y'all skipped had me laughing. I'm used to swearing in games and I do a lot of swearing myself when playing, but even that guy sounded a bit over the top even by my standards. Still better than the Tomb Raider games and Lara's repeated "oh sh*ts" all the time. I've been eyeing this one since I saw Eurogamer do some stuff on it. The gameplay looks really good, and punching and shooting both look satisfyingly weighty. Enemies don't look too damage sponge-y either. Some of the mechanics remind me of Remnant: From the Ashes, which I also enjoy a lot. I might wait for this one to be on sale (I rarely buy games at full price these days) and maybe use some Christmas money on it. It'll be interesting to see how the difficulty adjusts for single-player.

Evil West's servers appear to be slow for everyone. My friend and I have a verified 11ms and 45ms ping in xbox network stats yet in Evil West, we get at lowest 128ms. In this video, the 2 players are getting 160ms. Is anyone else also experiencing this?

FYI!! Dont start ng+ on console until the next patch drops at the end of this week as you run the risk of getting ur save deleted! I was so annoyed when it happened as I only had the hardest difficulty achievements left. Luckily I love the combat so started again.

I pre-ordered it. It's a good game. Linear play, but fairly challenging. If you played, or ever even heard of one called "Darkwatch" it has a similar vibe.

@@davemckinney6555 i can definitely see the linear element. Your not so much guided along the garden path, so much as things are lit in such a way that you are drawn that way (like with the parts where mike and andy could pull down pillars and sneak along ledges and such).
