I love the structure of this guide and the recap on what’s important at the end! Well done, lad. I want to add one thing for beginners; take a few afk sessions in the beginning to see how full your inventory is compared to your rods durability after the session. For example, I have around 75 slots in my inventory. If I keep greens I get a full inventory but still have some rod durability left. If I throw away greens I use all rod durability and have around 10 slots unfilled after the session. This is actually A LOT more money since blue fish are worth about double what greens are. And during this fishing event where you can get stackable koi at the event beach.... MAKE SURE YOU USE FULL DURABILITY WHILE AFK!!! 1 koi is worth like 100 green fish! It’s even better there. Happy fishing my dudes

I.e. what's the linnear progression through look like, what are good goals for beginners, how do get that AP up in the beginning, why is the map so big if you don't necessarily need to see all the content, etc. Also maybe another video "prepping for the next season!" great guide! I only have these 6 points to add 0) (aka the most important) DO NOT SELL or TRASH the white fishing junk! Read the white junk items' description! Don't trash millions of silver... 1) You can find additional Imperial fishing traders in Duvencrune and Grana. 2) The most relaxed way to level your trading skill is to sell your nightly fish in a different city's Imperial fishing trader. You can get to master in a month or two, with zero effort. 3) If you have a branding stone and pets with durability decrease resistance you can fish for a longer time. 4) Grana (more like the Tooth fairy cabin) was treated as the Ancient relic shard hot spot, but -> see point 5 5) Don't forget to pick up the daily quest in Velia for rare fish (this is why Velia is favored by most these days)

Do the nodes where you fish have to be connected to the node with the trade manager your selling to in order to get the profit? Or can I just go out to the ocean and fish and sell to an in land trader for double the price without having any connected nodes?

@@mechacharizard101 There was a change a couple of months ago specific for the fish trades. No need to connect the nodes. You can fish at the Toothfairy cabin and sell it in Valencia if you wish. If you fish at the ocean you can also sell it anywhere you wish.

2 Things you missed, mastery doesnt only add relic gains but also prized fish which can be 5-15m from rods or 100m from harpooning. also if you get artisan 2 trading you can get a desert trade buff to increase by 50% plus the distance bonus which equals about 350% depending where you afk fish and you dont have to wait for exchange limits

if interested in ships, i'd recommend a frigate as they shoot 4x cannon balls at a time, while the sailboat only shoots 2 at a time. the frigate can be used to kill monsters that will get you enhancement materials which you can use to upgrade frigate and/or sailboat. i would not want to collect these with a sailboat with 2 cannon balls per shot. i personally am working on upgrading 4 ships, 2 sails and 2 frigates.

fastest way to reach artisan 1 fishing for new player, or alt: if new player is in olvia server (no pvp and server lifeskill bonus) and has a ship, they can boat out to nox sea near lema island (directly north of velia) and just fish blue fish there quickly to level quickly, then at skilled or profesional just boat around to find hotspots (flock of birds and school of fish seen visibly from afar) for yellow fish to get fishing skill to artisan 1 very fast (again, olvia server gives bonus life exp up to artisan 1) also, some rods and floats require artisan 1 skill (if you like to have higher chance for rare or larger fish)

OMG thank you!! I didn't know there was an AFK fishing feature. I spent 2 days trying to catch 1 fish for my fishing introduction quest and was about to give up on it. took me forever to be able to press the spacebar at the right moment to get it in the blue section [90% of the time I failed]. and then When I did finally get it in the blue good section, letters popped up and I didn't know what to do with them. grr, I want my 48 hours back.

Apparently my setup is different than anyone - I have controller mode enabled in my settings so it changes it to arrows.

Ohhh thank you very much I've been selling fish to trade manager his whole time no wonder the pay is so low and right now i gave up farming fairy petal for suppressed gear and i try with fishing instead hopefully i can get it done in a week And one more thing some might not know about it like me before, minimize your game to tray when afk fishing helps a lot by reducing your cpu and gpu usage so you can do other things on your pc

I'm starting fishing so I don't have high level or stats, so the fish I catch are not sold to the Imperial trader or the trade manager. The vendors themselves do not want them either. So my only option is to cook them? Is that profitable?

The node connected to trade thing was taken out a few months back, so yes, you can just fish then sell them anywhere

Yes - Laila petals are not a fish, so they don't follow the throw away fish rules. Just like the trash stuff like sea weed. You will still get them regardless of what you choose!

Honestly, probably not - they're inferior to the dandelion weapon as far as I know, so no real reason to go for it. I also hate the rng upgrade system so anything I have to start at level 1 is a no go for me lol

Yes, once you fill your inventory you're done. So throw away green and below. And even blue and below at higher levels with small inventory

PC needs to be on, but if you go to the disconnect page there is an option called minimize to tray, it will put the game in a very low power state. I use it when I afk rather than leaving the game open!

I'm professional 4 in fishing, I like doing the minigame for fishing so is the Velia sea, where you were afkfishing, the best money making place for fish? I would assume there's better if you have a boat, but I don't do I'm not worried about that.

This is one of the better AFK spots, it is not the best though. It's definitely the easiest spot.

just came across this as just started bdo on ps4, my question is it says to start fishing press x, after the game has caught the fish, how do you get it to recast if you are away from controller.

It auto recast as long as you do not do anything. Example: start fishing then leave the ps4. Your player takes 2 minutes to find a fish, waits 3 minutes before reeling it in automatically, then immediately casts again. As long as you don't touch the controller
