Here are a few additional tips that were not talked about in the video or only mentioned briefly: First goal: get to farming Artisan 1 as quickly as possible in order to be able to use Magical seeds. Magical seeds take 5x the space but also give 5x the yield. You have a slight chance of getting these Magical seeds by breeding blue crops when they have at least 100 %. You continue to breed the Magical seeds to get more and more of them until you can plant your entire farm with them. You will then often get 2-3 seeds from a breed, which means you can harvest the yield of a few instead of having to breed them for seeds. Second goal: get to farming Master 1 as quickly as possible because then you can get the Old Moon fences from Old Moon Managers. These fences also have 10 farm spots but take up less space, meaning you have more options where to place your farm - and the fertilizer can cover more of your crops. Regarding the farming skill: You do not level it by harvesting yield, you only level it by tending to your crops with pruning and killing pests. So to level your farming skill you actually want your crops to not grow flawlessly in peace but tend to them as often as possible - and you have to do it yourself, your workers won't level your farming skill for you. Note that when crops need to be pruned or have pests removed they basically do not grow at all. Regarding workers: it is highly recommended to use workers that are located close to your farm because they need to walk from their location to the farm to do the work and then they walk back again. So if you use workers that are far away it takes ages to perform this task - as you can see in his video, it would take some of his workers 40+ minutes to get there. Since crops need to be pruned and have pests removed quite frequently and they basically do not grow at all in that state it is important to have workers closeby. Otherwise all of your other time-saving measures (like using fertilizer, for example) are completely useless as the time-bottleneck is simply workers running back and forth between their lodging and your farm. Additional tip: there are daily and weekly farming life skill quests from Liana. The weekly farming life skill quests involve killing a mole or getting three Mysterious seeds (you can only do one of those per week). The daily farming life skill quest that I always do is Mystical Insect, where you need to collect 8 Female Kermes by pruning or killing pests, which you will eventually get when tending to your crops. All of these farming life skill quests give you farming skill EXP and also goodies like gold bars or materials to craft Secret Book of Florin.
@Peritestes2 жыл бұрын
A lot of excellent points. Like you said above, if you are trying to level your farming, you don't want workers helping you, and you just want to prune and pull bugs whenever a crop's status turns red. Gathering the crops gets you a little farming xp (I think) but the majority of it comes from actively tending to the plants while they grow.

If we are already at artisan level and wish to get up to master, do we continue to plant the blue seeds, tend to them all the way until we get to master? Or is there other better methods to level farming skills?

Grid pattern requires you to use 3 fertilizers to fertilise all plots and some end up being fertilised twice due to that. I've arranged Old Moon fences in 2 groups of 5 with hole in the middle and standing on it and using fertiliser applies it to all 5 farms equally, so you end up using 2 fertilisers. That being said grid pattern is more convenient for quick planting if it aligns with the default camera direction.
@Peritestes2 жыл бұрын
Just to clarify Magical gold seeds are the best seeds you can get from breeding, take up five times the space and get you about five times the crops as a single blue seed. When you process (shake) a special seed (blue tier) with the mysterious seed, you get a Mystical seed (different from the Magical seed). It is glowing gold in your inventory, takes up five spaces when planted as well, but gives you multiple spaces of product when you gather them.

Few things you kind of missed: 1) Workers. The distance doesn't matter (as you should only travel 1 time) the stats don't matter except for stamina. Because assuming you have enough stamina and are able to feed enough the worker never walks back to his home. The more stamina he has the longer time between feedings (I use mostly green giants with 30stamina which can basically get me through a work day). 2) Levelling farming. Usually people focus on power levelling farming for 1 day or so to reach artisan so that they can use the Magical seeds. There are plenty of guides of how to level farming fast. 3) You get a free strong fence from a quest (so that's a 10slot fence for 10CP).

i suggest, when placing the fences, leave a 2x tile empty border between the fences instead of placing them together so tight that they are touching, so the ground water is not completely consumed by your crops. you can see the fence placement mode has red and blue. you really need each fence to placement to show at least 4 grids of blue. complete red means you're going to have water issues. you can even get into a problem where one of your 10 fences just gets broken where you're unable to plant crops because it is too red. it might not happen immediately, but maybe after a few cycles. yes, having gaps between fences means you can't save time/materials on fertilizer/water. the trick where you stand in a corner near 4 fences and 1 fertilizer works for all for farms... as for old moon fences, i do not use them, because each time a new class releases i like to get every class to artisan in most lifeskills, including farming. you need master 1 to tend old moon fence.

thanks for always updating. things keeps on changing on this game
@ggregd2 жыл бұрын
Places with higher ground water stay wet longer after the rain ends and improve growth rate longer. It's not just "is it raining or not." Fertilizer works on the entire fence if it's within range when you apply it. The plants don't have to be in that range. So if you do what you did those 4 fences will all be 100% fertilized.

One thing you could add, that if possible, put artisan Giants or Fadus workers, who have the highest Stamina, so they can keep working in the garden till the crops grow completely, and wont run back to their hometown if they are out of stamina. BTW, I am master farmer and I use Old Moon farm, and magical seeds, which saves time, to water and fertilize all 10 farms from one single point. You can add this info as well.

@thatguy32132 жыл бұрын
basically plant a seed in its right climate. dont farm a grape seed in the dessert unless your ok with waiting longer for a seed to be gatherable.
@Ganzicus2 жыл бұрын
This is something the game explains very poorly. The growth rate by temperature is the percentage of the plant's total growth that you get each tick (every 5 minutes iirc). There's no hidden base growth rate stat that temperature modifies; what you see *is* the base growth rate. So in that example, corn grows 1.6% per tick in 22~70% temperature (63 ticks to complete), 0.8% in 70~100% (125 ticks), and 0.5% in 0~21% (200 ticks). So you'd want to plant corn in a 22~70% temperature area, or else you double/triple the time before you can harvest. Then you have humidity, which is actually just the extra chance of blight per tick (which you can manipulate to get more tending actions = more farming EXP), and groundwater, which is how much the moisture bar decays per tick (generally irrelevant because if you're planting in a good temperature area and using fertilizer, you'll never get 0% moisture before 100% growth and moisture only matters if you hit 0%).

OK, so a dumb question I'd had for a while: is it best to always grow the highest-quality seeds that you can? Is there a downside to doing so? Particularly if farming for cooking.
@SuzanneRush2 жыл бұрын
You get more normal crops than high quality/special. So if a normal onion gives you 100 onions, high quality will only give you 40 and special 20 (numbers out my arse, but vaguely that). This works out OK if cooking something that needs multiple, so you can use 1 special or 5 normal and so make the same number of crafts. But if not, and the recipe needs, say, 1 onion, then you'll still need 1 onion whether it's normal/HQ/special, and so the lower higher tier yield means less crafts. So, if farming for cooking specific recipes, it'll depend on how many of the crop you need per cook whether you should grow normal, HQ, or special; if for cooking a mix of recipes, normal is the safer option, or you can mix and match growing some normal and some HQ/special.
@soramercury70742 жыл бұрын
like Suzanne Rush said, ideally you just grow what you need for recipes. BUT there is a reason why there are hundred thousands of preorders on normal grade onions etc. nearly no one wants to grow those, need 5x the time compared to yellow ones and eventually have even less silver value in the end. i grow yellow grade onion, garlic, delotia for cooking o'dyllita meals, which i turn into guru cooking boxes... so technically i only need 3 onions for each oatmeal and stir-fried bird, 5 delotia for the delotia pudding, 4 delotia for delotia juice and 3 garlic for each stir-fried bracken and meat (all of this + other recipes are necessary parts of the o'dylitia meal) this means, green grade seeds of onion and garlic would be perfectly fine and i only should use yellow grades for delotia, which need 4 and 5 each for delotia juice and pudding. but honestly, to me it is not worth the extra time to minmax this hard. it will be for sure less money per hour, while being slightly more efficient in terms of resscource management. but guess what, i have still enough of everything and can even sell lots at the market. so ultimately, i think you want to buy low grades for some individual meals if possible and otherwise just grow and use the highest rarity. EDIT: btw the amount you get from yellow seeds is somewhat between 100 and 200 special onions/garlic/delotia for each harvesting on every plant. but if you grow something like hot pepper, you can only use one single seed instead of two. these crops will give you even more than 300 sometimes, but not sure if 400 is the maximum there. sadly i forgot the amounts of lower grade crops... but you will see it yourself, i guess. in the end you can easily calculate profit for each grade, but always keep in mind that shit can get very time consuming, to a point where you ask yourself, why not just grind 1 hour elvia for double money lol. honestly, i leveled cooking to guru for imperial trading and now i push it a little more until i got 400 contribution points... i think after that, i won't cook any more stuff, since shit takes way too long, while being quite annoying. guru boxes and sold stuff from the garden really is the way to go, i feel like.
@shhfiftyfive Жыл бұрын
i do not use workers on fences. farming exp is primarily earned from clearing weeds and looting "monk's branch" and to a much smaller extent, the "spirit leaf" and yes, the best exp is looting the "mysterious seed"... as for the yellow magic rarity plants that take 5 slots, i think you get more exp from the blue special plants. if you don't care about exp, then okay.

I just don't understand how this thing can be profitable. And it's so boring. With 10 garden you can use 100 crops. I think the harvest time is about 4 sec, and you walking between gardens, and replanting the seeds, so the total time you spend in the garden is like 10mins. And you can do maybe like 10mil if you get materials for stonetail fodder and hard/sharp. Maybe a bit more on higher farming level. But with 10 min casual grinding in Sulfur i get like 40-50mil. Okay, i understand that the audiance is different, but it just not worth it. And 100 CP is a freaking lot, then you have to assign 10 workers for it, the workers need lodging which is more CP, and you have to feed them every 20 min which is annoying and cost a lot of beer. I would rather spend my 100 CP to get as many worker nodes as possible, and it maybe less profitable, but i don't have to do anything for it, full AFK, or i can go for grind or cook for a few mins to get that money.
@summer_rains2 жыл бұрын
You got the right idea. The CP and active time used for farming can be spent elsewhere and for some people, that's more profitable than farming. Example: With a 10x10 of magical seeds, you're looking at ~30 mil value per cycle for 4 minutes of active time. Minus the cost for CP (let's say 400k value per CP per day and 3 cycles per day -> ~13.3 mil CP cost per cycle) it becomes ~17 mil value. That translates to 255 mil per hour of active time. So if your alternative is grinding sulfur for 300 mil an hour, farming isn't all that great.
@kubotv202 жыл бұрын
Grinding is ACTIVE INCOME. Cooking is AFK INCOME and Farming is PASSIVE INCOME. You should not compare them to each other because they are diff types of income. Farming is the best PASSIVE INCOME in Black Desert. Farming (Magical Dry Mane Grass) will still net you more PASSIVE INCOME even if you get all the worker nodes in the game. If you wanna have Gigachad PASSIVE INCOME, you wanna have both 100+ Workers and 100cp Farms.
@EltonLeonidas2 жыл бұрын
But as i said, farming isnt passive. Because you can’t reduce the harvesting time, it will always require 5-10min fizzling. Which is annoying. And you have to assign a lot of cp and worker to it. But yeah, it is true that if you have enough, you can make both. But because farming and grinding both active incomes in my book, both require work, i can’t see the relevance of this
@summer_rains2 жыл бұрын
@@kubotv20 I think that's a bit of a misconception most people have.
