I'm currently raising a baby robin who is unfortunately handicapped & cannot get around much (just started learning how to fly), & although I spend 99% of my time with him, I hate that he doesn't get as much stimulation as normal birds. I've played this twice for him, & he absolutely LOVES it! He'll sit in the same spot the entire time that it's playing, & seems so interested in the other birds. I'm so glad to finally have found something else to keep him preoccupied when I can't.

At the time of writing this I have had my 2 cockatiels for 4 days. They were screaming and running around in the cage so I decided to play this for them and one of them absolutely loved it and the other was a little scared of my phone at first but came up to watch. Warmed my heart seeing my birds being so calm and watching bird TV, I had never seen them in such a good mood before this.

My 6 cockatiels absolutely adore this! They sit mesmerised and transfixed watching and try to mimick the movements of the birds on screen! It is so heart warming and encouraging to see such beautiful happy birds safely enjoying their lovely surroundings. They all look so joyful! If only all of our feathered friends could have such a wonderful life. Thank you for filming this and sharing it, it keeps my birdies entertained for hours. Ruby :-)

I recognize some of the same rainbow lorikeets that come back several times during the day to bathe. It is not out of necessity, but of pure enjoyment. The birds' joy has moved me and gave me a deeper education of their being. Thank you!
@rubyscosycorner14108 жыл бұрын
I thought I would give you an update because since discovering this film, I have been playing it several times a day for my birds and they are still totally transfixed by it! When they see my laptop they ask me to put it on for them (they have a particular call that they make, usually only when they are asking me to refill their food bowls, and they have started using this call whenever they see the screen so I guessed what they were asking for and I was right!), and the most incredible thing happened today while they were watching. They have been mimicking the movements of the birds on screen, particularly the lorikeets who seem to be their favourites along with the cockatoos (one of my birds is a lutino cockatiel who looks like a miniature Too) and they were doing this today when I realised that not only were they mimicking the actions of the lorikeets in the bird bath but clearly asking me to provide them with some water to play in too! They were stretching out their wings and fluffing their feathers and making it very obvious so I got their water spray and even my 11 year old little guy who has NEVER let me spray him, was joining in. More remarkable still, I then filled a glass pie dish with water (so it looks as close as possible to the bird baths on the film) and as I type, they are now getting into this and splashing about, having never done so before. I think this is pretty amazing - it shows to me just how intelligent birds are, that they can infer from something they are watching on a film that this is an activity they too would like to participate in, and that they can then communicate this to me! It shows a level of cognition and consciousness that I didn't realise such small birds as cockatiels could possess. I am disabled and spend a great deal of time with my birds, many hours a day, watching and interacting with them. They have free access to a large room they can fly around in all day but they are not free and seeing this film makes me realise what they are missing out on living here indoors with me. They can see outside, but can't see other birds, only hear them, and I wonder now if when they are flock calling they are not doing this to warn each other of the perceived threats they can hear outside, but because they want the other birds to join them - which may be why they love this film so much. I endeavour to give my birds the best possible life that I can, but I realise this is a poor second best to the beautiful freedom that the birds in your film are enjoying. It is very humbling being a "bird parent" - I have always tried to learn from them and let them guide me in how they want to be treated (I hate the word "train" and have never tried to tame them at all though some of them are by nature very friendly) but I now realise that there is so much more for me to learn and I have to thank you for uploading this beautiful film once again, which has really opened my mind and inspired me! And now I am being commanded to put the film back on again, so I will have to stop writing! Sorry for the massive essay! Ruby :-)
@BirdsNThings8 жыл бұрын
What remarkable friends you have! Keeping a birdie bathhouse has also opened my eyes about animal intelligence, emotions, and their welfare as well. Your birds are not the only ones to be fans of lorikeets. A pretty pigeon likes to stare at them and tries to share the same little bath for drinking, if they'll let her. I am slowly gathering footage for Bath TV #2. I'll try not to show too many misbehaving birds lest your friends try reenacting them. :) Cheers

Wow! Amazing that this person has such beautiful and exotic birds that are wild come to their home like that. I much prefer to see them this way rather than locked up in a cage all day. I have an African Grey parrot and she spends her time outside of her cage and on her many perches, but she will go inside her cage at night. She feels safer that way. I’m guessing this is in Australia? I have a friend who lives there and she will live chat with me while showing me the flocks and flocks of beautiful bright colored exotic birds that fly around and land on and around her patio. These brightly colored rainbow lorikeets look like some of the birds she shows me. I love how at 33:01 he’s prancing around her, trying to make the moves on her. ❤️

Yes, it is Australia, and yes, birds should be allowed to move around and be in an enriching environment. And yes, rainbow lorikeets are so full of character. They all are in their little ways, though some are quite obnoxious. Cheers! 😊

@@BirdsNThings Great, thank you for the reply and confirmation that I was correct about that being Australia. So do people there catch beautiful birds like the lorikeets to make them their pets. I’m sure you know a bird like that would fetch a high price here in the States. And seeing cockatoos wild like that is great.
@BirdsNThings3 жыл бұрын
@@OOceaneyess It is illegal in Australia to keep native animals without a license (wildlife rescuers have licence etc). Wild birds captured will become highly stressed and will try to get out of the cage, damaging their feathers, so it would be cruel to keep any wildlife as pets winged or not. It's sad reading about birds that go extinct in the wild because they're being captured for pet trade. Cheers!
