It was disgusting. He's a cheap wonky character
@AdrianCHOY5 ай бұрын
@@r011ing_thunder6he’s not cheap. It takes great skill to play Gen. That’s why you don’t see many Gen players out there. The toggle control is difficult.

That they do! Xian has always mentions in interviews and especially on Crosscounter Asia that he thinks Sako is a fantastic player and a fun person to watch and play against. Sako is just nice to everyone win or lose. 2 of my favorite SF4 players in one match.

Sako wins EVO in my heart. He plays with style, no matter what situation he's put in. If you're going out, might as well do it with style.

I agree. It's because everybody's trying to see how Gen fares with other characters but only those who's used Gen in the right hands would know Gen's a very underrated character

Opening : smiling and shaking hands is nice manner. They respect each other.

Nah. He's just delirious. Gen's not really an OP character. In fact, he's a low tier character in that his HP/stun rate isn't the best in the game. Include his limited range and you'll have a hard time trying to use Gen. However, given to the right hands and someone who knows how to use him, Gen is a very strong character.
@Gonryoma10 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's the tier, but rather the learning curve it takes to play him. He has really strong 50/50, ambiguous setups on wake-up, and a very strong poking tool with low str. hands. His wake up is limited that doesn't kill the char. I feel he's at least mid tier to upper mid, but the learning curve deters people from playing him.

Except we are not talking noobs or casuals. If he is secretly extremely powerful pros who has spent 20x the amount of time studying this game would know better than you or me that it is worth it to gain the amount of money and fame that Xian has. With the added advantage that many players just don't have the experience against a great Gen player.

Low tier simply means there frequency of use. gen is far from bad, in fact he's possibly one of the most powerful characters in this game, but he's so difficult to use that no one uses him. but it's not surprising that someone finally learned how to use him to his full potential.

He isn't mid tier. I'm sure if the pros made a new tier list now, after EVO 2013, Gen would be right up there in the top. Tiers are made for a character from their own character potential. If one player blows him up and masters the character to really show their potential, then that can increase their standings in a tier. Tiers are NOT based on what people say about him or the difficulty in using the character. This is what many people wrongly believe that tiers are.
@thejedioutcast8046 ай бұрын
He was high mid tier at best. Most people just didn't know the match up back then, and by most people I mean 99% of people, especially back then when information traveled slowly and netcode sucked. Xian carried the character hard that year, no one worked harder than him in 2013, that's just a fact. He flew to every tournament that year and sweated like a dog, he was my favorite to win that year too, and sure enough he did.

His argument, at the bare minimum, was that Gen is "OP" and "not rare to find". Him bringing up his friend does nothing to strengthen these statements.

Um, there is no lag offline from stages. Find me some credible proof of this otherwise.
@yubbone11 жыл бұрын
Difficulty of operation does play a role in tier placement, just not in some games. When there is a character that is extremely good but must be played in particular play styles with a higher level of perfection demanded than other characters to succeed, that character will likely not be in most people's top. Ranking isn't so black and white; hence why you'll find debates on the topic for virtually every fighting game. The only person convinced of your holier-than-thou-attitude's merit is you.
@contro2ny11 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's a rule from Evo because the Ps3 Version of the game is know to have frame drops like all Capcom Ports
@ArepawithCheese11 жыл бұрын
I think it's because there's no distraction. No hippos or kids around the stage haha.
@june002411 жыл бұрын
Ah! A fellow Filipino! Anyhow... I guess he doesn't know how hard both are, especially for Gen. Gen's zoning capabilities aren't the best in the game. And his poking ability maybe his best asset but it's one asset that's hard to do. So yeah. He's just that frustrated versus Gen.
@DesertFox112411 жыл бұрын
Nerves probably.
@MrSneakmind11 жыл бұрын
it was a bet that xian didn't have knowledge of the character and it didn't pay off. Gen players, and especially Xian, have a ton of knowledge on every character so it didn't really matter

It's a neutral stage, you can see the middle easily.
@geraldnelson713410 жыл бұрын
Evo was played on PS3 and it has some frame rate problems. Training stage is the simplest stage and the easiest to render so it has the fewest issues.

Why didn't he go with cammy
@bmore4nigga11 жыл бұрын
I don't think Gen is necessarily low-tier. He has some good tools but people not knowing the match up does give Xian an edge in the matches. He's not OP but he's not low-tier either.
@ShakeITyEA10 жыл бұрын
in fact his logic is "i know someone who uses gen very well and has a high winrate", as well. so he maybe does have a point, right?

Gen is arguably the hardest character in the GAME to play. And he is low tier aswell. NO ONE plays gen, and the few who does are LIGHTYEARS away from Xians Gen. Xain was the one guy who put Gen on the MAP. Get ure facts straight.. wtf man
@TrueSephiros11 жыл бұрын
Gen is not going to be near the top of the crop, Xian just makes him look that way, remember that. Evil Ryu looks top-tier in the hands of Sako but we also know that isn't true either. Gen I would say is around high-tier, their are countless other characters whom are stronger overall then he is, albeit not by drastic numbers, simply due to the fact that AE:2012 is that balanced.

Ibuki's a monster, Sako should've kept her.
@1124625111 жыл бұрын
ur fuking kidding right? every time I play online I never see a gen, I would never think gen could win evo, that's how low tier he is, yet this guy is so good he still wins with him
@WombatKuek11 жыл бұрын
But not so good in the second. He switched to evil ryu cuz his offensive strats with ibuki was failing. Notice how his play with evil ryu is way more defensive than his play with ibuki. You know, its that thing where if you cant beat someone with offensive char like zangief or rufus for eg., then you try going defensive by using dhalsim or guile, for eg. that's what I do at times, when my offense cant beat my opponents defense.
@TheAlmightyVox11 жыл бұрын
Hardly. He's mid-tier at best, and the only way to get anywhere with him is to completely master him.
