"Taking the throw" is a meme that came from SFV, where defensive options were scarce. You have an abundance of drive gauge in this game, and JP in particular has a counter that activates on throws, and he only used it twice the whole set. People are so terrified of taking damage that they'd rather stay in the worst position possible in the game than attempt to get out it. Makes no sense.

Kakeru destroyed MenaRD's blanka a lot of times in the ranked matches. it is just a game set so there are times when Kakeru can't do his best too since he is a human. The strongest SF6 player is the one currently ranked 1 in the SF6. and it has always been Kakeru.the top 10 players in the rankings are mostly Japanese I get it why american idiots hate Japanese players so much.

I find it kind of funny that all Day 3 Grand Finals ended up being clean 3-0 sweeps from whoever was in winners side: In Strive, TempestNYC 3-0'd Sanakan; in Tekken 8, Chikurin 3-0'd Lowhigh; and in these Grands, Mena 3-0s Kakeru like it was nothing.

“Throws are too strong!! They need to be nerfed” “Parry is too strong!! It needs to be nerfed!!” wtf is going on with the fgc rn. MenaRD correctly read that Kakeru was going to try the parry option and went for throw to counter it. It’s almost like fighting games are about reading your opponent and countering their moves accordingly. The reason why Kakeru got thrown a lot is because he kept going for his signature parry tactics (you can see how he kept getting punish counter thrown). This isn’t even to mention that JP is a ZONER and should be WEAKER at close range. Ofc JP is going to be eating mixups at close range- that’s part of what balances him out. It wouldn’t be fair for him to have great close range and zoning game at the same time, yet the way people talk about Mena’s offense you’d think they would want JP to have amazing close-range options as well…
