Excellent video! I'm in the process of prepping the engine bay to remove the engine and transmission. Is it possible to slide the transfer case off the transmission, leave it sittimg on the subframe where it is, and still remove the engine easily from the engine bay through the top?

Boosted Films can you help me I trying to take mine out of the evo 4 and the shaft just won't move past a certain point or am I not roughing it up enough
@BoostedFilms7 жыл бұрын
CV shafts? they take a bit just should pop out with a good quick pry.
@jasonblack47297 жыл бұрын
Boosted Films not the CV's the small shaft in the center that both of them were attached to it goes right from the gearbox to the transfer case.

Do you have a slide hammer?

Great video! I have one question if you could help ?I'm in desperate need of the torque number for the four bolts that hold the tail stock to the transfer case, I've searched everywhere without luck.....Cheers

@barnchips Did you notice any metal chips when you changed the fluids? I'd be willing to bet its the T-case.

great video I have a 2003 evo 8 and I'm curious about using amsoil in my transfercase rear diff and transmition was wondering if anyone else has tried it and if they can recomend it over the oem oil , my car is a little noisy i may or may not have a bad transfercase as i know some noise is normal but i'm looking to re do all fluids and see if that helps it first any recomendation on the fluids to use ?

@freeflyeric If your tcase is bad it will whine super loud. After whining awhile it will clunk and eventually lock up. Maybe someone screwed up your clutch install. Also i have and evo 8 so its non acd. Do you hear any noises

6:50 - I have a question regarding ACD pump hose...How did you stop it from leaking when you removed the banjo bolt? I have the same problem every time when I do this since the line is lower than the reservoir. Great Vid by the way !!!

I have a question reagarding my evo. Non ACD tc. I had a new clutch installed with new clutch plate, pressure plate, resurfaced fly wheel, new throwout bearing, but my car is barely moving on first gear, even if I step on the accelerator. Feels like the clutch is slipping. Could this be a transfer case problem? Thanks for this info on how to replace the transfer case. I just want to be sure before I tacke this job. Any info would be really helpful. Thanks.

Hi im doing a transfer case on my vr4/evo4 and just wanted to be clear do i only put oil in the side bung, and does the gearbox feed oil through to the rest of the transfer box? cheers

When using the slide hammer you can get the harmonic balancer removal tool which adapts onto the slide hammer and using the bolts provided will make the job easier if you don't have that custom tool.

@evofreak1304 Sounds like a possible transmission problem. Usually a bad transfer case will also whine during acceleration. Unless its a quieter whine that isn't heard under acceleration simply because of the engine noise being louder.

how long is this process? how much should I expect to pay for a shop to remove my t case?
@adrianTNT12 жыл бұрын
Can you tell me if I was supposed to have oil coming out of the gearbox from the axle that you see at 8:30 ? We replaced some seals on the tcase of an Evo X and oil started to come out while taking the tcase away from the gearbox (tcase was already empty), I think it was gearbox oil and coming from that gearbox hole at 8:30 but I am not sure. Is oil supposed to be there? Thanks.
