Professional magicians reviewing commercial magic kits without being either a shill or needlessly mean is something I love to see. Just an honest assessment and fun to watch. Edit: okay what I really like here is that you broke the pieces down to their influences and what Shin added, and who this would be good for and an overall value. I'm honestly surprised how much was in there that wasn't just cheap junk cashing on his name.

I had a svengali deck as a kid, it was so awesome. Learned how to do a double lift and blew people's minds with that one trick ever since. My son and I love watching your channel Doug! Thanks for this!

Great job on the unboxing and review. Really enjoyed watching it. The kit is definitely designed for older kids. I was thinking 10 or 11 years and up as you were going through the box. I love the darker overall design and colours for a more serious approach to learning and performing magic.

This really took me back. The official Magicians' cards were branded Fox Lake," and the most common size was "Bridge." My very first set of "MacDonald's Aces" came with gimmicked Bridge-sized cards. In fact, there were times when I was hard-pressed to find a Poler-sized trick that required special cards. The rest of the kit was, for the most part, far better than the magic kits of my childhood. And by childhood, I am talking about most of the 1950s and 1960s. I don't recall a single card trick in a magic kit. Those kits were amazingly cheap, Japanese-made (yes, this was before Dr. W. Edwards Deming taught them Total Quality Management) garbage. They contained the coin slide that would change a penny into a nickel, a wallet that made things disappear and reappear (which took an 8 year old 2-3 seconds to figure out, and the tube with the rubber band that was stretched across the bottom, and you went in from the top t try to hook the band with the too-short wooden hook. Bringing back any unpleasant memories? Yes, I am that old. This kit is easily worth $50. And the thumb tips are a very valuable inclusion. I think I will give this kit plus Joshua Jay's book/DVD combo as a gift for my grandson, who will be almost 8. The book will make sure his dad is involved. He used to watch me around the time he was 8 or 9, so I taught him a number of effects and routines. It would be nice to see him get back into it. But in any event, a great father-and-son or daughter gift. Nice job with the unboxing/first impressions review. It was well worth the time spent watching it, plus the time required to write this comment a 3:15 am.

It's better then the magic kit I had. loved your review honest also fun to watch, also loved that Shin Lim teaches the tricks that this kit has inside. a lot of kits that I had didn't come with instructions or videos to learn, for example ( this is not a magic kit just an example) buying the linking rings 8 set they came in a bag and being young not understanding how they work or what to do with them there was videos on KZbin. having no access to the internet till I was 14 after buy my first laptop loved it heaps, I still use the Olivetti Lettera typewriter, I'm not gonna make this too long anyways Great kit, loved your review and recommend. Thanks Doug

I gotta say, if I got this as a gift and excitedly opened it just to find the color of the cloaking device did not match my skin color I would be so disappointed.
@DougConn3 жыл бұрын
Surprisingly: the color doesn’t matter … fact … in real life, used properly, it’s irrelevant (hoping someone will chime in here & back me up!)
@jayzenyuhman90953 жыл бұрын
Most people will find it doesnt match. You still should consider mostly concealing it regardless. They're clear as day on myself. Keep it moving and try to mostly conceal it.
@saucemagic3 жыл бұрын
The audience is never supposed to see it anyway so the color doesn't matter.
