Evolution 33cc Engine "Running In" TheFirst Tank! with ChuckT

This time we head to the Chicken Farm Runway and Anthony helps set up the new Evolution 33cc Gas Engine. We fix it to an old HK PT-19 fuse front and fire it up to run the first tank of fuel through it. I check the Rev's with a Tach and of course you get to here that sweet sweet sound of a 33cc engine through a Pitts Muffler. I was very impressed with this Engine, although having never owned a Gas Engine before i have nothing to compare it to! But! Anthony, who has a lot of experience with Gas Engines said it was a very nice engine and if it keeps running like that is going to be a beauty and serve me well. Anyway sit back turn the volume up and have a listen to that sweet sound!

just a normal 12v starter you get from the model shops Robert. I cut my cable and attached a plug so it now runs on a 3s lipo

Hello Chuck, cant find anywhere a usefull messurement from end of standoff to prop thrustwasher for the gx 33..Manual is NOT helpfull, it shows end of engine to propnut ??!!!??without standoff...!! THANKS TO ANYONE WHO CAN HELP ! Regards Gerald

+Planespotter27 these motors don't start real easy with the flick, but start straight away with the starter. I never bother to flick, just hit the starter and it fires instantly. I don't think a video showing me flicking for 10 min would be any good haha. Check out my other videos with the engine, there are plenty of starts, to see how easy it is.

Hey Chuck, loved your film about this engine. Just a small point for you to consider, have you had any problems with your engine cutting out while in flight. I take it that you have mounted it inverted to hide it within the cowling. Well I have one of the NGH Gas engines, the 17cc jobbie. This ran well uprigt, biut once inverted on the plane, kept mysteriously cutting out in flight after a few minutes and fuel was being sucked out of the carby. To cure the problem, I had to invest in a velocity stack, which screws to the top of the carby, covering the choke valve. Apparently, this velocity stack gives a much smoother airflow into the carby, and prevents fuel being sucked out of the carby, all over the aircraft. It worked for me. How did your flight trials go, after your running in period. Would be interested to know. Anthony.

i have 2 of these motors now, one mounter upright and one inverted and never had either stop on me "Ever!" these motors are bullet proof and worth the extra money IMHO, my mate went through all those cheap motors and had nothing but trouble with dead sticks just like what your motor did. Good to see you sorted the problem. I'm glad i took the chance on these motors. here is a couple of videos of the 2 planes they are in. I learnt when i went that way with the cheap glow engines. It cost me a couple of planes. I then bit the bullet and bought an OS engine and have again never looked back, i have 2 of the .55AX engines and again they have run faultless. chuck i am looking at the 10 cc evolution for my first gas engine . it will be mounted inverted . do you recommend the evolution ?

Hi Rex know very little about the 10cc engine i don't own one, But i do own 3 33cc Evolution engines never let me down yet. Never had a dead stick landing with them either. Start really easy just need to warm right up before you fly. if the 10cc is anything like its big brother i'd say it should be a good engine. The 10 engines now come with a pumped carb make sure you buy the latest version!

Hi Oldhorseman i still have this one mounted on my big stik and it still flies perfect! Still never had a dead stick from it. As with the other two i also have! One in my H9 PA-18 super cub and the other in my 3D Inverza. Never had any trouble ever with any of them and i run them on 32/1 mix as recommended in the manual. The cub gets flown scale so nice and easy, the Big Stik and Inverza get thrashed!

ChuckTSeeker R/C Reviews Fishing + Much more.... Hi Chuck, thanks for your fast reply, I'm considering this engine to use in a Black Horse Hawker typhoon. But was a bit hesitate to use this engine. So if I go for the Typhoon then I put this baby in. Will be a good match for it, maybe a bit light in horsepower but very cost effective compered with an OS engine by example.
