Nice one Lumpy. Like you, I'm so glad they didn't fill in the loops. The trouble is most boaters just pass through Birmingham due to its bad reputation and not explore its waterways. I'm sure over time this will lead to canals not getting love they need which is such a pity. The Birmingham Canal Navigations Society are doing a wonderful job to keep the history alive.

Exceptional job Lumpy. Your historical vlogs are the best. Loved watching this. Inevitably canals in City centres got filled in to make building space.

Another interesting VLOG on BCN would be all the boatbuilders on the system, those still there today, Caggy Steven’s etc then those no longer there Delph Lock Boats, Brumagen Boats, could make and interesting storyline
@NarrowboatNatterings7 ай бұрын
That'll take some research. I might just scratch the surface and see what appears!

Great vlog Lumpy. You done a great job showcasing the Birmingham canals. I’m much more likely to give it a go someday now. Liked the use of the old maps too, with the then and now shots. The old buildings look really interesting and there’s also the bonus of the pubs 👍 I quite fancy going to the black country museum so could double that up with a weekend hire taking in gas street basin. Thanks for the vlog

Wow!!!!!! Thanks for that I love doing Birmingham and the loop's 😊 Do you know anything about Faraday wharf? I don't know how or why but that was the first place we moored when we were bringing our boat back from Gayton marina 10 year's ago. We had to go the long way round to Fazeley marina as Atherstone locks were closed for winter repairs
