*Adventure Island 2 and 3* are the best chapters of the series in my opinion. Beautiful both graphically and in Gameplay. I loved the fact that the levels were made up of islands and that each island had a boss to discover. Games so simple, but beautiful and fun still today. Real timeless games.

Not true. Wonder Boy was an Arcade game from Escape/Westone and Sega made just the arcade distribution for them. But obviously registered some trademarks. Hudson did the NES port but couldn't use the name and the hero design but kept the game design going. When Sega did the SMS und GG port they used the Westone trademarks. The later Wonderboy games had little in common with the arcade platformer thus this one is the odd one out.

That was the game I played in my childhood. Different version of ice lander. That 🐲 dragon smile while holding on it backs during jumps were beautiful to watch. That seal in water was very difficult to move back wards. Beautiful memories thank you.

Man, the Adventure Island series history is so weird. Does it count as a spin-off of Wonder Boy, or something like a branching main series? The fact that they share the first game, and the Adventure Island sequels are closer to that first game, makes it hard to classify

I will try to explain. 🙂 The first game in the series, Wonder Boy, was developed by Escape as an arcade game for Sega. Because of this all copyrights were with the Sega (title of the game and characters - names, etc.) Escape, retained copyrights to the game, entered into an agreement with Hudson Soft to create a version of the game for the Nintendo Entertainment System. At the same time, the hero and the name of the game were changed, but the gameplay remained unchanged. Copyrights to the new hero and the name remained with Hudson, which released its own series of Adventure Island games.

Lo que más nostalgia me trae, son sus Melodías de cada nivel de Adventure Island 1,2,3 y 4. Para NES. Lo jugaba con mi prima a los 9 y madrugabamos pasándolo todo! Incluso, Habían vecinos que se cambiaban los cartuchos y eran tan bella esa época, dónde el juego más famoso era el Super Mario Bros 3. Todos querían tenerlo. Were these games considered great back in their day or just OK? I grew up playing this in 1997. it was my brothers. i was 7 years old. i always asked my older siblings to help me get through the hardest parts. i dont think anyone of us beat the game but they certainly could play it more advanced than I could. I did good for a young gamer but this game is dang hard. I LOVE the cover art of these games as well as games of that area. Beautiful color choices, shading, and font choices. Even by todays standards Cover artwork of this era is phenomenal

My sisters and I used to play AI for the NES until our parents made us turn it off almost everyday. Never got to beat it as a child. Luckily, with an emulator, I was finally able to beat the game a couple years ago. Well worth it lolol.

Hudson cloned "Adventure Island" from Wonder Boy on the Sega Master System which came out a year earlier. My NES friends could never figure out how I beat their Adventure Island game in one sitting when I didn't even have Nintendo. I should of bet money, LOL

To give credit where its due, the first game was the one I find most memories of playing some NES games (even I never complete it) & technically also the introduction to Wonder Boy series that I was unaware of until 2017 (which that series made huge comeback since then). So yeah, If it wasn't this reskin, I won't be both a Wonder Boy & Adventure Island fan in my entire life.

I believe they're Japan exclusives. Takahashi Meijin is a former executive of Hudsonsoft, and bouken jima（冒険島）literally means "adventure island" in Japanese. So the translation of the title would be "takahashi meijin's adventure island".

They're all Wonder Boy arcade clones from the Sega Master System in 1986. But the Wonder Boy series went into a different directions on the SMS as all the Adventure Island sequels continued to follow the original wonder boy format from the original Sega creators.

5:45 i had this game in a Nokia phone x) The ver i had was much more accurate to the NES ver (practically same sprites as nes) it had an enchanced palette compared to nes an had a very good music (the stage boss one rocks) also it had a extra mode after the last World (4-4 iirc) they were X worlds, it had something special but i preffer not spoiling
