Fun fact: In a New Super Mario Bros game the head of the drybones falls off, so if you time a stomp right, his head can fall in the lava, but even then, it'll return after a while and just appear out of the lava

Fun Fact: Dry Bones might have gotten its name from a Bible story in the Book of Ezekiel called the Valley of Dry Bones where God miraculously restored a bunch of "dry bones" to life. Kind of impressive that Nintendo would reference something like that given how niche Christianity is in Japan.

I remember playing Super Mario Bros. 3 on the Game Boy Advance and my little cousin, who was maybe 7-9 years old at the time and I was in my 20's, was telling me how he hated the dry bones and couldn't figure out how to be them. So me being the big impressive cousin I am, first off explained they can't die easily but then started to show him little tricks to beating them like using a star or getting hammer bros. suit. This brings back the memories of looking like the cool big cousin at the time.
