​ @springfaux6991 Funny enough... when I saw it, It immediately reminded me of an idea nintendo had scrapped back in Splatoon 2's early development, originally Pearl was planned to be an octoling who so happened to be a DJ/singer much like Marina before it was replaced with the pearl we know and love. Then thinking back to all of Acht's dialogue bout her time in the metro and how she started working as a DJ, I was like "huh... why is this going somewhere?'. Lastly after seeing Acht's eye, reality hit like an anvil. - Same eye pattern as the scrapped idea - Works as a DJ and Singer - Both came from Octo Valley. Pratically... Nintendo pulled out a 180 by rising a scrapped idea from the dead and repurposed it into a completely new character in Acht/dedf1sh!

In Splat 1 they didn't care about the Octolings, but their performance of the Calamari Inkantation during the final boss had the side effect of releasing several Octolings from Octavio's brainwashing, including Marina, Agent 8, and Acht. Those Octolings along with Pearl fought racism.
