Fun fact, the body of the ME262 jet fighter was manufactured in my primary school. That's not a joke, the building has since been replaced, but when i was in school we were still in that old half run down building that was the exact place the planes were built. It was a concentration camp which was partially destroyed, and when the war ended the refugees needed a place to stay, so they never demolished the still standing buildings. Eventually it was turned into a school, and in the 2000s it was still standing.

4:23 Actually incendiary bullets did not do anything either, because fires can not start in a 100 fuel environment. It was explosive rounds that could shred large areas of the zeppelin, which allowed oxygen to get in, and in turn allow fires.

5:07 Germany was prohibited by the treaty of Versailles to even comission any military planes. The Weimar Republic had a tech cooperation treaty with the equally shunned Soviet Union to at least somewhat keep up with developments and when the Nazis took power they started a covert rearmament programme right off the bat, commissioning the Heinkel He-51 biplane in 1934 (like many planes of the early 30s pretty much still a WW1 design with 1930s Tech Level) which was quickly replaced by the much more advanced Messerschmitt Bf-109. So it's not true to say Germany modernized its WW1 air forces to the BF-109. Its WW1 Air forces were entirely demobilized, decommissioned and mostly destroyed in 1919.

Hey, you guys should do an "evolution of x military unit" series at some point. Like division level units. For example, my great grandfather served in the 34th infantry division in ww2, it would be super cool to see an animated history of that unit. When did they get founded? What battles did they fight in throughout history? Are there any notable medals awarded to members of that unit? Does that unit still exist in the modern military? And you could even break it out further and do other countries division level units as well.

Very nice. Although I think the post WW2 part of the video was a little short. The Luftwaffe had a bunch of foreign made planes like the F84F, F86K, the Fiat G.91 "Gina" etc... Also the Starfighter had many problems. Technical problems with the design itself, poor quality on some critical parts, maintenance issues, being used for things it wasn't designed for... The Alpha Jet is also worth mentioning I think, since it was another example of European cooperation (in this case a Franco-German project)

@@jerankorak7997 The Alpha Jet was developed by Germany and France, it was also to a large extent built in Germany by Dornier. Germany bought 175 of them as light attack aircrafts. If we’re talking about helicopters the Bo 105 would’ve been worth mentioning, it served amongst other roles also as an anti-tank helicopter armed with up to 6 ATGMs. Germany had 212 of them in the anti-tank version and 100 more for transportation.

Just a quick comment on the F-104, as well. The plane was designed to be a fighter interceptor. The Luftwaffe wanted to use it as a multirole plane, and almost all crashes were the result of training for low-altitude attack runs. You see, the plane was not designed for ground attack and as a result, was not very good at it. Additionally, it had an ejection system that fired downwards. At high altitudes, where fighter-interceptors dominate the skies, this isn't a problem. In an anti-armour and CAS role often operating below 5000ft, it is a bit of an issue. In short, this was not a fault with the plane, but a fault with its operator.

It's confusing right? However, you know perfectly well when you're wrong, your whole body, physically and mentally let you know... you feel lazy with fatalistic thoughts, that feeling that everything is lost, that nothing will ever be the same again, you torture yourself remembering a past experience that back then didn't even seem like a good time but compared to how you feel now, it could even be said... that... you were happy without knowing it...

Really enjoyed the video, one note though: I'm pretty confident that the plane you were speaking about from around 3:06 on is the Fokker D.VII, not D.IV (this was a pretty machine of which only 40 were produced, in 1916).
@TheEvil909295
@TheEvil909295 2 жыл бұрын
2:14 That's not 100 percent true. On French aircraft, the propellers were protected against fire from their own ammunition by deflector wedges. Fokker investigated this concept and found that the German 8mm was too strong for deflector wedges and then developed a synchronization gear. But there were also patents from other designers such as Franz Schneider and Raymond Saulnier.

Just to avoid some confusion, the name of the Bf-110 wasn't the Zestörer, that was that dame given to any heavy multirole plane, hence the name Zestörergeschwader, or ZG, indicating a wing of aircraft fitted with these types of aircraft (these were usually Bf-110s, Me-210/410 and occasionally Ju-88, however the Ju-88 was more used in the Nachtgeschwaders or Kampfgeschwaders (Night fighters and bombing. At 10:44, he mentions the dozens of kills Stuka aces got. Their kills are much more inconsistent because 1, it’s probably propoganda, and 2, the dust kicked up by the rockets and bombs when they exploded made the illusion that the tank had exploded, while it may have only been slightly damaged. This is why so many dive bomber aces claim ludicrous amounts of kills.

The problem of the Zeppelins was mostly that Germany didn't have access to enough Helium and had to fill them with Hydrogen instead. Which is a tad bit flammable. As the production of Helium was seen as a military relevant technology other countries withheld it from Germany which can be said to be a reason why the Hindenburg accident happened. BTW the "th" in Gotha is different from English. It basically indicates a slightly longer "a" after it. You also have serious problems with the Umlauts but that's difficult to explain. You did rather well on most other German pronounciations. I was surprised how well you pronounced Ulrich. That "ch" is usually a big tripping stone. With the "Storch" you made the commoin mistake with the "st". In German it's (usually) pronounced like "sht" the "st" like in "shield". I'm a bit sad that you skipped the Horten Ho 229 and Me-163. BTW the BF stands for Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (Bavarian aeroplane factories). They morphed into Messerschmitt AG on 11. Juli 1938.
