Actually Sonic Rush and Rush Adventure have different themes (on top of having unique invincibility themes for each zone).

Sonic 2 on Mega Drive/Genesis had the best invinciblity theme. It was an updated take on the Sonic 1 one and just had that perfect upbeat kick.

The Sonic 1, 2, 3 & Knuckles themes are classics, but I also feel the Adventure games invincibility themes are under appreciated. They're my favorites out of all of them. The Adventure games also had great speed up music too instead of just speeding up the stage track.

sonic 2 Genesis was the first sonic game I played, then my dad got me a game gear with a carrying case with sonic 2, sonic 2 for the game gear was the first one I owned and beat, then my family got a Genesis model 2 with eternal champions sonic spinball NBA JAM TE the jungle book and asterix and the great rescue, sonic I didn't get sonic 2 16bit much later but I still loved sonic so ic 3 made me a true sonic fan lol

2 things: 1. I never knew how much I missed hearing Sonic say "Here we go" after getting the invincibility bubble which leads into the theme song playing in SA2 & Heroes. Such a nice charm. 2. How did Generations & Forces manage to have an ugly invincibility effect, even worse than a game like Sonic 4? I do not know.

Not sure about new Sonic games, but on old games the power up was invulnerability to damage, not invincibility. You can still die if you fall to void or if you get smashed between walls.

I never played anything past the year 2000 sonic games, you see they started going 3D and then went back to 2D because in my opinion they were better for the type of game trying to move that fast. Not saying the other ones were bad, 3D provides more of a challenge to move fast, but I guess sonic 1 and 2 are what I'm used to. Sonic spinball was my favorite.
