As much as I love the evolution video, I'm kinda bummed that Wartime Period wasn't shown that much. It could've shown the destruction of Manila in WW2 which is like 80% of the City. It was the catalyst of the post-war growth of the 1950s and the exodus of commerce out of the city to Makati and the growth of modern skyscrapers in other cities in Metro Manila. But anyway, I guess leave out the bad memories of the past?

Imagine Manila today with its bell towers, domes, and cupolas dot the skyline, with red tiled roofs and cobblestoned streets. Trams runs through the richly decorated facades of the houses, mansions, and the imposing civic buildings, and establishments of the old city. Boats sailing through its scenic canals and through the magnificent views of the Pasig River. The melting pot of cultures, architecture, and art have made Manila one of the romantic, beautiful, and great city in the world. Sadly, Manila didn't reached its potential, war, human greed, and selfishness ruined it. Yes, we are at awe in the glittering skyscrapers and the modern environment that Manila have, but we tend to forgot the city's innermost soul and the rich history that is untold.

@@instantinople3796 Funny thing is, Intramuros had been renovated by Imelda Marcos. but she didn't do a great job at it. and if we are renovate it, where it would be? since remind you; the current Intramuros is like 15% remains of its former self. and the parts where we could added the old ones have now situated by those modern buildings. and Las Casas Filipinas have some of the preserve significant buildings build in their place. quite a shame we didn't have amount of budget for the architecture renovation.

Yes like some Southeast Asia countries including Indonesia where it’s left handed drive during Dutch occupation until now The reason why the Philippines is the Archipelago country of Right-hand drive in 1945 is because of MacArthur promise and American GIs

0:55 Many structures and most ancestral houses in the Philippine are based on “Bahay na Bato” (evolution of Bahay Kubo). Thus giving a unique combination of pre-colonial and colonial style.
@tala47492 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s why the vibe of that house (I’m not sure if it’s a house) feels more eastern style than Hispanic. I’m amazed despite being a Spanish colony like Latin countries, the structures in the Philippines, especially the ancestral houses looks very different compared to them.
@yawaka7112 жыл бұрын
@@tala4749 Yes, but the interior design feels more hispanic. Though, compared to Latin countries and Spain, it’s still quite different. Filipinos incorporates the Hispanic influence to their pre-existing culture, that’s why if you compare it to other countries that got colonized by Spain, it’s easy to distinguish which is Filipino style.
@moonbellebelle45232 жыл бұрын
@@yawaka711 yeah what I've somewhere that the walled lower part of the house was already practice in Philippines but, they'd hispanized it, then the walled cities aren't really new to our ancestors like there were lots of Kotas during arrival of the Spaniards. The intramuros stones were from the older one from kingdom of Tondo.
