Well the problem is that it was just an hyper beam animation rip off and it didn't represented the concept of the move at all. Like Lugia already learns hyper beam so it's a bit redundant. Though I agree gen 1 and 2 hyper beam is cult at this point.

@@artimist0315 I don't care about that. They reused animations to fit the constraints of the platforms and cartridges back then. Hyper beam didn't blacken the screen or have the circle fill part of the animation. That was why this was cool.

Gen 2 actually looked like the attack used in the Pokemon 2000 movie and it was ABSOLUTELY BADASS in both that movie and the 2nd gen games. I have no idea why they changed it. Lugia's lore is that he's uncontrollably powerful, so much that his wing flaps can blow away houses and cause storms but he's kindhearted enough to restrict himself to the bottom of the ocean where his powers won't unintentionally mess up the surface world. Aeroblast was the symbol of that power. In the movie, it opened up as 5 chaotic beams needing to be focused into a single point but it was impossible for the attack to start off focused because of how powerful it was, so it hits alot of unintended things before it's focused. The gen 2 games actually capture this well despite the limitations of the system. It hurts me that they changed it into a "vacuum blast" after gen 2. It also bugs me how thicc he got, he used to be thin and sleek but that's another story.

Gen 2 is my favorite. The short buildup before the attack, the inverted background & shaking screen, combined with the hyper beam sound make it seem as powerful as it is. Gen 5 is a good runner up. The rest seem a bit soft imo.

I agree, but for me, the runner-up is gen 7's. I think it conveys what Aeroblast is supposed to be the best. It's a blast of air directed at the foe, and I think Gen 7 delivers on that beautifully. It's one of the more intense versions of the move, and I can tell that it's air that being blasted at full power. Gen 5's is too weak looking to me.

No offense, but I find it really redundant to show the same animation from the same generation 2-3 times in a row. I get that sometimes animations for certain moves changed between games like Psychic, but not in Aeroblast's case. Like, we don't need to see the exact same animation in Diamond, then Platinum, then HeartGold. This is the case in a lot of these evolution of move videos. Just my two cents on it.

Also I prefer to be sure that everything is here even if it's the same so people will be sure that this is the real version and that this is truly what the move look like on each version even if some of them look the same. I actually disagree with most of the comments, I prefer the newer iterations of the move. Don't get me wrong I love the gen 2 hyper beam animation but the newer animations looks way more distinct and representative of the move while still looking cool as heck. It looks powerful yet very light and I love that. I think for Lugia to have a unic animation rather than reusing a move every single Pokémon can learn help it stand out. Though I think we can all agree gen 3's hyper beam's animation is by far the worst, if anything it looks like razor leaf.

*My Aeroblast Review!* GSC: super awesome! Looks too much like a smooth beam though rather than a blast. I like the fan though. RSE/FRLG: sorta lame. Looks like an animation for razor wind. Not impressed. DPPt/HGSS: so nostalgic for me! Soul silver was my first game. I LOVE the backdrop and the animation! Really looks like an aeroblast. BW: love it! An HD version of gen 4? Looks perfect! And I love how the aeroblast goes through the foe! B2W2: the old backdrop was a bit better, but still cool! XY/ORAS: oh how they ruined this move. This looks so, so lame. SMUSUM: an improvement over gen 6 for sure. Much more powerful looking, but I still miss the swirl from gen 4 and 5. Overall favourite: BW! The gen 4 version is super nostalgic, and the BW version is just an amplified version of it. Amazing.

As good as Aeroblast is, it's wasted on a very defensive, big boi. It should've been brought to another Pokémon, like most other, once legendary exclusive moves. Togekiss is the only one that comes to mind, but it would be stupid broken if it had Serene Grace.

I kinda disagree with that. While some animations in gen 2 look better than gen 3 there are lots of great ones in gen 3. Hydro Pump, Solarbeam, Ice Beam, Fire Blast, Flamethrower and others look so much better in gen 3 than previous gens. The Ultimate moves and Hyper Beam look very impressive too. I'm kinda neutral on Aeroblast though.

El mejor es de la generacion 2, yo tenia la version dorada, pero consegui a lugia en el nivel 70, por ende en esa version ya no lo tiene, no sabia que existia ese movimiento ,lo mire por primera vez usando el metronomo de togepi, use el metronomo todo el tiempo , pero me salio 2 o 3 veces, sin embargo me quede impresionado, sin duda el mejor ataque del juego,para las graficas de aquel entonces, años despues , muchos despues, supe que era el movimiento característico de lugia, pero solo en la version silver. 250921

The "Hyper Beam" version of Æroblast in Gen 2 was hella cool but the recent versions are more relevant. It's called Æroblast, etymologically speaking it's "Blast Of Air" so making it looks like a giant tornado, yeah it's fair. And no ! It's not just some wind, Lugia being kind of a god it's wouldn't be just a gust of wind but more like a giant air cannon ball launched at high pressure. And with high speeds comes mass acceleration and therefore a whole lotta damage depending on how heavy the projectile was. So yeah, Æroblast is an air cannon ball and not a laser beam but it's still a freaking cool move !

It's possible that the Lugia didn't have the right increase in its stats, especially in its Sp. Atk. despite being lvl 100 (i.e. not EV trained properly). Another factor could be the nature of the Lugia which hindered its Sp. Atk or the nature of the Lunala which has boosted its Sp. Def.
