Battle Realms is an underrated RTS... it brought some innovation not seen by its peer. It allows some units especially the range units to have 2 attacks.. like a archer will fire arrow at a distance but will switch to hitting the enemies using the bow and kicks when engaged at a melee distance. And the archers actually fire the arrows in a arc.. especially in a long distance.

I really need help looking for this one game, i don't think it's shown on the video but basically there are 2 factions in the game one Draco and phoenix? Both factions have different units and some of the units were a golem, phoenix, dragon, Ninja and shaman. I really need help looking for this game as I can't find it anywhere else.

Warcraft 3 killed the RTS genre (almost) while creating moba
@SergiuHellDragoonHQ5 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say that. It's part of the evolution process. If people wouldn't like MOBA, MOBA would've been dead by now. Slowly, the RTS genre will recover. I noticed more and more RTS games are coming out lately, compared with the previous years.

Though the list is impressive, there re about 4 dozens of RTS I know that are missing in the list: - almoust all FPS-RTS genere (only Carrier Commands and DK 1-2 included) 1 - Wargasm 2 - Batzone 1-2 + remasters 3 - Sacrafice 4 - Hostile Waters 5 - Carrier Command Gaia Mission (NEW) 6- CnC Renegade and Renegade X 7 - Natural Selection 1-2 other RTS 8 - Outpost 2 9 - MAX 2 10 - Colonial Project 1-2 (Chinese) 11 - Perimeter (1st voxel based RTS) 12 - Half-Life Labda Wars 13 - Screeps (RTS for programmers) 14 - Colobot (RTS for programmers) 15 - Code Combat (RTS starts from world 3, for programmers) 16 - Metal Fatigue 17 - Ground Controll 1-2 18 - 8bit Invaders, 19 - 8bit hordes 20 - Grey Goo 21 - Act of War 1-2 22 - Meredian (2 gmes) 23 - Submarine Titans 24 - Re-Legion 25 - World War 3 Black Gold 26 - Z series (2 games) 27 - ORB (Homeworld clone) 28 - Stalin vs Martians 29 - Cuban Missile Crysis 30 - Myth TFL, Soulblighter, Wolf Age 31 - SWINE + HD 32 - Radio Commader 33 - Radio General 34 - Star Trek Armada 1-2 35 - Mech Commander 1-2 36 - Starship Troopers Terran Ascandy 37 - Emergency series (5 games) 38 - Fire Department 1-3 39 - Rescue series There are about dozen of CHinese RTS excluded, no DPRK, Vietnamese RTS Also there about 30 canceled RTSs whose demos are available for play. So this video includes only about 30-40% of RTS games.
@thrdeye73044 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's meant to be an exhaustive list of every RTS ever, just the notable ones. And some you listed don't really belong, like C&C Renegade which was more of an FPS hybrid and if you include that you have to include Battlezone and so on. And of course even your list is missing some very notable games like KKND and Dark Colony. Not to be overly critical, of course; it's hard to make a list like this and there will always be some room for debate as to what belongs.
@Atomnyi4 жыл бұрын
@@thrdeye7304 Well I agree that My list incomplete. But I includet FPS-RTS games in the list: Hostile Waters, Battlezones, Wargasm, Renegade ect. And in My list there are RTSs that influenced a genere introduced new tech and mechanics. For example - voxel based destructible turrain in Perimeter is 20-30 years ahead of any other RTS tech.
@thrdeye73044 жыл бұрын
@@Atomnyi I actually haven't played Perimeter. I'll check it out. I do know the Creeper World series allows terrain modification but that's more of a tower defense/rts hybrid. Good fun though.
@Atomnyi4 жыл бұрын
@@thrdeye7304 Huh. Creeper World is based on Perimeter mechanics ) It is like AirMech is a continuation of Herzog Zwei... Ive tried Creeper World if I had modern PC, mine is 10 years old and I cnt afford anything better. So I play 3d mods of Half-Life 2 RTS, C&C REDUX 3d.
@thrdeye73044 жыл бұрын
@@Atomnyi To be clear I'm not sure how much Creeper World has in common with Perimeter other than the ability to modify terrain. Gameplay wise it does have RTS mechanics and is often categorized as an RTS but I'd say it's a tower defense hybrid. If you called it a straight up tower defense I wouldn't argue with you, although it's definitely unique among TD games. Basically there are maps with a fluid called "creep" and generators that create it. The creep flows like a normal fluid and will destroy your buildings/units if it touches them. Your job is to use your buildings and units to destroy the creep and work your way to the generators, then destroy them. The terrain modification comes in because you can raise or lower areas to help control where the creep flows. I don't think you need a very powerful machine to play. The earlier games are on Kongregate if you want to try them.

Nah. Not at all. Video is not that good, since it's just a compilation, some of those videos were edited, author of video never played some of them, made wrong timestamps, also fast forward for "Herzog Zwei" masterpiece and some others, which spoiled sounds and music.. So nah, not great video at all, just a compilation.

This video is a masterpiece in and of itself! Thank you for your work! I wish I had time to play all these games, even from 1970s. Also, please help me find a game I played as a kid. It was a strategy that was similar to Warcraft. My sister bought it for me in 2002-2004. It was about some bug looking aliens. I think there were 3 factions. You needed to build buildings, gather resources, train military and defend/attack. And it was on a small planet I think cause you could see you were on a sphere. I remember it looked good but the game itself was not very good. Anyway, I've always thought about it and want to find it.

About game you played in 2002-2004, write more specifics, you wrote just general things, which is usual to the genre. Was it a single game?
@AyratHungryStudent2 жыл бұрын
@@TrueNeutralEvGenius Yes, it was a single game, 3d real time strategy. Gameplay very similar to Warcraft 3 or Starcraft. You start on an open field with 1 building and 1 or 2 workers. Than you gather different resources, build infrastructure, military buildings, then you train military with spears or hammers. Again, you play not as humans, but some bugs or animals that are human-like. I remember the game was very colorful, a lot of bright colors. The graphics were very good. The years might be off, might be a later game.

It's amazing that 3D still hasn't quite managed to catch up with 2D in terms of aesthetics. It did get okay by about the mid-2010s. However, I still shudder at the fact that we were forced to gobble up fugly Warcraft 3 instead of gorgeous AoE2. So many good games forced to look ugly.
