Even though most are neutral, there is still an active community behind this game, you can't just say that he isn't a character. There are people who have loved (not like romance and shit) this very character since their childhood. I hope you do not take this as an act of shaming, for it is only meant to stand my viewpoint.

Everyone has their own view points that should be respected. Comparing him to characters like Mario or Sonic might be a "little" irrational but characters like Busby (mainly hated by everyone) is a little too steep to say that he is (probably, in your opinion) worse. I, personally (standing my point of view) believe that Ryu deserves his recognition as a character. Ryu debuted in the 1987 Arcade game, Street Fighter, and while that game was pretty shitty, it marked a "before" and "after" in fighting game history. Capcom later released Street fighter II: The World Warrior, which was one of the most successful fighting games of all time, and afterwards (said by many) any other fighting game copied Street Fighter. (except mortal kombat) As I said in my previous comment, I do not mean for any harassment or shaming, for I only stand my point of view. Thank you for your time.

But when I saw the symbol of TEN 天 and my master lying in a pool of his own blood I had to at least face him.... That battle tested me like no other because the whole time I was fighting myself from not submitting to the DARK HADO and numerous times I nearly lost myself.... And all of a sudden I began remembering the meditation lessons Master Ghoken had taught me, and how to clear one's mind in the heart ❤️ of the battle, and ultimately I managed to defeat him, HIM.... AKUMA!!! And what made the battle a blessing, was when I discovered that not only didn't Master Ghoken not die in his battle with Ghouki but somehow gotten ten times stronger.... I'll never forget that moment.
