The water update in e8 was so good I spent hours building an underwater base on my survival just so I could look at the new underwater lighting that whole time. SE does a really good job of making the water look and feel like water.

Honestly the versions are pretty much confusing. On the official SEUS download page (not patreon), there are 3 versions labeled: SEUS Renewed v1.0.0, SEUS (Legacy) v11 and SEUS Ultra v10.2 Preview 1 (this one gives me error, my guess is I'm missing something/my graphics card doesn't support it? I'm seeing only white screen , when trying it). Are the E5 to E8 patreon exclusive? Though the Renewed looks a lot like the E5, both lacking the water wavey effects, that's why I'm using the Legacy one.

I have a 1070 and I can hit 60FPS with occasional/frequent dips to 50FPS at ~1080p with render distance at 8. Maybe try matching my resolution or render distance and see if you maintain 60?

I play on a 2060 at 1440p and get about 30 - 50 fps with 16 hunk render distance (and you have to keep in mind that seus ptgi is purely software based which means no utilization of rt cores).

Great comparison :) Have you also noticed a problem with low res shadows from the glass blocks in E8 ? And the sunrise, before E7, has better colors in my opinion.

Thanks Rudy :) haven’t tested much on grass block as I still don’t have it done completely but i noticed the sunset change. I kinda like both in its own way. Though E8 does seem to have a bit stronger lighting.

Make sure your raytracing length is not too high. Medium is perfect and even low is ok.

If you’re talking about optimising the game in general, enable aggressive opts in the same box as dedicated ram (quick google search will tell you exactly what to type) and dedicate at least 4GB of ram. For specifically these shaders, run them at 0.7x render scale rather than 1x, turn your render distance down, and go through the shader’s options such as making sure full raytrace is off. For me, render distance is the biggest game-changer. At 32 chunks I can get about 30fps but at 2 chunks I can get about 100
