Funny that North Korea have all the good land while the south have the crap one because the north have all the resources but who winning now lol It an example no not the power of capitalism but of having better economic policy over ideology or something also the south is not being lead by a mad man
@Kirill_Linkov
@Kirill_Linkov 3 жыл бұрын
@@USSAnimeNCC- Would they build a huge subway in Seoul if there were as many people living in it as in Pyongyang? This is not the only reason why you are wrong. To compare North and South Korea, South Korea also needs to be kept in a complete economic blockade for about 30 years, and deprived of its fields (in North Korea, agriculture exists only because it was completely electrified in the 1960s). And also reduce the population of Seoul to 2 million people. Such a comparison of the two Koreas will be fair.
@seize4085
@seize4085 3 жыл бұрын
@@Kirill_Linkov To be honest, you are far underestimating North Korea. True, its geography sucks and there are far less people in North Korea, but it also had far more natural resources, railroads, roads, factories, etc., because the Japanese mainly developed the northern half of the peninsula industrially, not the southern half. It even got much help from both Soviet Union and China. I don't think not having enough land to cultivate is a valid excuse anymore.

@jamesdakrn

@@jeongsungmin2023 Yeah as a Korean American I know that there's always been stuff like that, as well as disasters like Sampoong Department Store that collapsed but on the whole Koreans still can be proud of the lightning fast construction if you look at cities like NYC, LA etc. The Second Avenue line in NYC started in 1920. And it's STILL NOT DONE YET. And the fact that they only RECENTLY started connecting Grand Central to Penn Station for some of the suburban rail lines is just f*cking ridiculous. And LA.. its a total disaster, with the NIMBY bs like Beverly Hills school system suing the LA Metro b/c they don't want poor people in their area, so only in the 2020s we will finally see some metro to the Westside, and we hope that the World Cup and the Olympics might actually get them to connect the metro to the LAX airport. That's right. Even now there's no real public transportation that gets to the f*cking airport, and seriously I would not even want my worst enemies to go thru LAX on a busy friday evening. Ever wonder why Dodger Stadium is empty in the 1-3inning and the 7-9th? Because again, it sits on top of a hill with like 4 roads going in there with no metro service other than a shuttle from LA Union Station. I live around 9 miles from Dodger Stadium by car. Around 15km. And it takes me right now at 11am when there's no game going on, about 40 minutes according to google. On Game days, it's a lot worse, especially for a normal 7pm start, bc it coincides w/ rush hour, and the fact that there's only like 4 roads going up the hill into the stadium, even if I get there on time you still have to factor in the last mile or so going up the hill which can add another 20-30 minutes.

However, if you move outside of the Korean capital area, there is a plethora of railways that are nearly 10 years old and under construction. For example, Busan Line 5 has been under construction for nearly 10 years, and the Yangsan Line has lasted more than 10 years compared to single-track, short lines. Koreans call these things ‘teaspoon construction,’ comparing them to construction with a teaspoon. The Bujeon-Masan Line is a railway that connects Busan (population 3 million), a large city in southeastern Korea, and the central area (Masan) of Changwon (population 1 million). However, civic groups in the Sasang area protested, saying there were too many bridges on the Nakdong River, so construction was delayed for about three years. In the end, Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport planned an underground tunnel, but because it was a delta area where ground subsidence was a concern, the tunnel collapsed due to ground subsidence and casualties occurred. Like this, many construction projects are in progress outside of Seoul.

I heard facts about how north korea’s economy was actually a bit ahead of the south before the 1970s, but it’s also stunning to see how a nation’s growth can slow down like this, while only a border away another nation can develop this much in just 50 years…

2 years ago I traveled there and was overwhelmed in the sheer amount of lines just to go around the city. Had a lot of fun though and will definitely go back when traveling ease up.... Metro's are a lot of fun and been into some interesting ones -- Bangkok, Taipei, Hongkong and Singapore.. Tokyo is next on my list...

TMI: The lines that are numbered(2-9) are controlled by the Seoul Metro corporation, and the lines that are not numbered are mostly controlled by KORAIL(line 1 is mostly controlled by KORAIL) and often called national railway or 국철. Numbered lines are usually for connection between areas inside the Seoul city boundary, while un-numbered lines are for connection between the suburbs(doesn't feel like it because they are full of apartments) or the bigger Seoul metropolitan area, or in some cases, to other provinces. 25million people live in the Seoul metroplitan area.

While I do love your videos, what I'm missing here is the opening of each new station. You show the extension of the new lines from one station to the current end station but not the new stations in between which I would find as exciting to see.

FYI, that is a total length-related video produced as of the first half of 2021, and the current total length, combined with additional opening and extended routes for 1 year, would have already surpassed total 1300km. And under the assumption that 3 to 4 GTX routes, known as long-distance routes for wide-area express, and numerous under-construction areas, including new subway and LRT lines will each open, so will surpass total 2000km as early as 5 to 6 years.

So, I found you metro systems that are very simple, like Pyongyang or Glasgow (up to 40 km total length): Sydney (Australia), Baku (Azerbaijan), Yerevan (Armenia), Brussels (Belgium), Belo Horizonte (Brazil), Salvador (Brazil), Budapest (Hungary), Tbilisi (Georgia), Mumbai (India), Jaipur (India), Jakarta (Indonesia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Warsaw (Poland), Novosibirsk (Russia), Yekaterinburg (Russia), Nizhny Novgorod (Russia), Mecca (Saudi Arabia), Baltimore (USA), Dnipro (Ukraine), Kyoto (Japan), Marseille (France), Helsinki (Finland).

I was a former expat living in Pocheon city. ve waited 10yrs for our city, Pocheon, to be connected to the subway line. But until now i am still wondering when it will be push through although the local politicians always promise it during the campaign period. And plans were already laid out to the public. We have to go to Uijeungbu or Yangju to be able to go to Seoul via train. And ive seen how korea’s infras are being constructed in a massive pace. So it makes me wonder why Pocheon’s line took time to materialize
