I must say I am disappointed with how Shigaraki's story played out. I wanted him to be truly free of All For One so he could become his own villain. I feel like Shigaraki never got the chance to reach his full potential as a villain. As a villain, he was overflowing with such potential and promise. I kind of feel cheated that I won't get to see what he could have been. Imagine if his body reached full power and he was in complete control of it. In addition to this, imagine if he still had control of the Paranormal Liberation Front in its entirety and took full advantage of what it had to offer. That would have been a villain I would want to see. What a waste.

That would have made no sense though because ultimately Shiggy was a puppet and that is a key point of the entire story and it’s moral: Villains are humans too and they all have an origin. But let me explain it further: Tenko to begin with never wanted to destroy. His scratching wasn’t due to an itch because of his quirk, those were AFOs lies, it was “itching the most when he was at home”. It was psoriasis triggered by stress from the abuse he constantly received at home. That’s why we see him constantly scratching himself as well, whenever he is under pressure or stressed. Through the relationship he forms in the league of villains it’s also pretty clear, that Shiggy without the influence from the doc and AFO wouldn’t have radicalised himself as fast and basically kept being strays with the lol, chasing the k k k…eh I mean c r k for spinner (unfortunately the anime kinda effed that part up as it was cut in season 5 and added in season 6 just slightly shortened). Shiggy also stopped AFO (after “fusing”) from using decay after Aoyamas betrayal, because it would have killed Toga and Dabi next to him (the anime’s actually didn’t highlight that part enough in my opinion). The first thing he thought about when beating Re-Destro, basically turning Shiggy into an all powerful warlord, also wasn’t “I will rise and destroy” but “I should organise sushi for my team”. We also unfortunately didn’t get the LOL conversation between Shiggy and Spinner in the Anime where Shiggy admits that he actually never played LOL with someone and the two then gaming together. But the most important point is, that Shiggy in the final part is actually in full control for a while and ultra powerful, yet Deku still manages to break through, because deep down underneath all the grooming and the hate he was taught, Shiggy simply didn’t WANT to become an extremist, terrorist and mass murder, he just wanted to play pretend with some friends and not be considered a social outcast, ignored by society. If Shiggy would have been ultra powerful by himself for a while, he would still be defeated the way he was, cause it was never about power for him or Deku. To sum it up: Shiggy would have never been that all powerful evil on his own, cause he simply isn’t that. The league even with all their trauma generally wouldn’t be as evil without the influence of the doc and AFO (the exception being Dabi perhaps).
