Evolution of Towers in Mortal Kombat (1992-2023)

The Towers in the Mortal Kombat franchise has seen a drastic evolution in the past 35 years. In the beginning, they were called Arcade ladders, then they got the name towers and since MKX, many different types of towers were added, including Towers of Time, klassic towers, and many more. All great, really cool seeing it evolve throughout the years. Deadly Alliance's was unique in that it didn't show you everything right away, it just barely hinted at the next fight. It could give you the feeling of dread knowing you're fighting Moloch next.

The towers in Deception were really interesting, because they showed the defeated characters on the ground. Armageddon one was also epic, because it was all about racing to the top of the pyramid.

Deadly Alliance ladder (global), Deception ladder (the mountain) and Deception puzzle ladder (ocean + dawn) are my favorite!

Seeing them all again I think I prefer the older ones that showed you all your opponents. There's something about showing you the top and all your opponents on the road ahead that builds a bit of that "come and take it" energy into the player.

I like the original MK1's tower music way more than I probably should.

In the first Mortal kombat game I like the detail of how if the character you picked it said mirror match

Well, to be fair in first two games it was not towers but a battle plan. And the difference is big.

What I do not like about Mk11's Klassic Tower, is that there is no miniboss before Kronika. I think the fight before her should always be either Shao Khan or Cetrion.

The clunky tower animation that lacks any proper easy-in/easy-out makes MK1's the worst for me
