My local area in Canada has 5DX+ all over the place still, but one arcade got 6RR setup imported and running. Everyone was hyped out of their minds when they heard one of our arcades would be getting it! Then we played it. And went back to 5DX+ I feel so bad for the staff. They took a gamble and it blew up. Luck for them they kept the 5DX+ machines and continue to run them, so it's not a total loss, but it's so funny seeing the 5DX+ machines packed and the 6RR machines empty.

5DX+ definitely was the best in the series. Good length on the story/grind, lots of dressup parts that weren't too hard to get thanks to Maxi G shop, balanced battle physics and rubberbanding system, great music both in menu and in game, great cars introduced. Then MT6 comes out and strips out so many good things, dress up parts removed from the lineup (stickers, tube neons, lots of rims), progress reset on all cars with aero sets being the only compensation, removal of G point shop making it harder to get parts, worse battle physics and an OP rubberbanding system. Hope things go back to the way things were in 5DX+, those truly were the glory days.

The only thing I rant about WMMT6 (Even though I only got the Banapassport since 6RR) is the story mode counts per lap was also increased from 60 all the way to 100 (The same count as 3DX and 3DX+) just to allow players to immerse more to the Wangan Midnight's story arcs, and to compensate for the new max HP which is 840HP/DG making players needing to spend more money just to unlock older BGM sets and to earn meters. I would say the cheapest way to beat the whole loop of story is to get a car from Terminal Daily Scratch, Fully-Tuned Build Tickets or Wangan Navi app scratch cards (Any car you get there is automatically fully-tuned and 80 episodes pre-cleared) and clear the last 20 episodes before reaching another loop of story mode.

The peak of Wangan was definitely at 5DX+, all the cool features and race modes, significantly easier cosmetic customisation, and much better music as you can unlock 4's music from completing the story mode at least once (I think). Japan challenge was definitely the best game mode to come out as it forced me to race areas that I'm not used to, now I'm just popping in my earphones to listen to Wangan 4's music while I mindlessly race 3 ghosts at the C1 loop. I've since moved on to try Initial D's newest release with Initial D: The Arcade, let's just say the force feedback is insanely strong

I have a local arcade with IDAC but didn't really have the guts to play it because... 1) It costs me an insane 4 Malaysian Ringgits just for a single swipe to play 2) It is often busy and long in queue 3) The gear shifter feels harder than WMMT shifters 4) IDAC isn't fully translated in English and it has been like that in the past installments since IDAS5. I might play it one day, but much less frequent than WMMT6RR.

I don't play much WMMT, but it is special to me as one of the two pillars alongside Gran Turismo that made me love simracing as a hobby. I wanted grounded track racing like GT, with the ability to have steering, pedal, and shifter inputs like WMMT. These solidified my hobby to become a simracer in my adulthood. i think the Wangan Midnight R or Wangan Midnight PS2 did really follow the manga and storyline of wangan midnight and it have some fast pace racing compared to other Wangan Midnight Maxixmum Tune series where it can go 300 km even not upgrading the cars and it has some nice opening of Wangan Midnight PS2 and it still a nice addition to add a opening of 2 minutes and i gotta sa Wangan Midnight ps2 is my favourite. and thank you for creating this video and i hope Wangan Midnight will go popular to the West.

Not every arcade staff can afford to buy and maintain WMMT6RR cabinets. Not only you'll have to buy 5 cabinets (4 driving cabs and 1 terminal), but you'll also need to connect to the router that goes to the online server and even NBLine Point subscription that is charged to each and every cabinet.

For me, Maximum Tune is somewhat a little less rare to find in America but is common in Round One Amusements along with Initial D Arcade Stage 8 Infinity. Maximum Tune is way common in the Philippines, especially at most Time Zone arcades but Initial D is becoming less rare in the Philippines and some of their machines are found at Tom's World.

I'm not sure if you were aware but you could have added that North America skipped WMMT4 because of the WMMT3DX Version A glitch that allowed players to clone/duplicate gaming cards using discarded WMMT3 cards. Everyone in California was doing it and even selling cloned/duplicated cards. I'm sure Namco caught wind up it and never introduced the WMMT4 kiosk to North America.

To be honest, Namco should now give Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune a break and make a Ridge Racer. It seems like Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune is becoming more and more recycled like a sports game. Also, Japanese people don't like Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune anymore. It's painful to see Namco still ignoring Ridge Racer. (The same goes for Katsuhiro Harada. He said he couldn't make a New Ridge Racer.) This is an act of insult to the employees who developed Ridge Racer. (Kohta Takahashi and Taku Inoue are anxiously waiting for New Ridge Racer.) For god's sake, Cruis'n, Hot Wheels racing game, LEGO racing game, F-Zero, and even Top Gear (Top Racer in Japan), Crazy Taxi are back. If San Francisco Rush and OutRun are back but Ridge Racer still isn't, I won't buy a Namco game. But I think San Francisco Rush and OutRun have a high chance of coming out differently than Ridge Racer. I saw that Digital Eclipse and Atari were interested in San Francisco Rush, and there was Outrun 2 from SEGA, Sumo Digital at British Racing Greats 2023. Looking at Namco now, I'm so glad Atari Games went from Namco to Midway. If Atari Games had stayed with Namco, there would have been no Rush series, and the arcade versions of Race Drivin and S.T.U.N. Runner would never have been ported.

american arcades are dead nowawadays :( everyone plays home consoles now and arcades started shifting their focus to tickets and glorified gambling games so there isnt really an audience for games like wmmt it doesnt help that 5DX+ is basically exclusive to round 1 locations which a majority of people dont have, + the concept of saving data and progressing in an arcade game over a long period of time doesnt really work in america where most people only go to arcades for kids birthday parties
