in mario 64, wiggler is not a bad character. He's just a lucky catepillar who has his own home and so happened to find a Gold Star. Mario would be the monster for wrecking his house and beating him into submission over something that WIGGLER FOUND *FIRST* !

Actually Wiggler was unlucky to come across that Star as he states that everything in his normal life gone wrong every since he found it. It causes him to feel more outraged beyond his normal capacity. After the fight Wiggler relinquished the star and states he feels much better and wouldn't mind Mario visiting another time, he even shrinks down thus implying the star made him bigger and grumpier. So Mario finding his home(albeit in an unclean way), settling Wiggler down, and taking the star off of Wiggler's back was the right thing to do.

Because the Wiggler fights are a reoccurring thing in the M&L series, not Paper Mario series. The Paper Mario series had a Blooper boss in every game, but Color Splash sort of broke that.
