@hardtailparty Жыл бұрын
@@mtbjer9825 I've definitely changed the head angle on my stumpy Evo. I love that feature. For where I live, I actually prefer it steeper. I like that I just drop the cup in instead of having to press a lower cup into the frame. Specialized made it easy. It feels like trek is playing catch up a bit here with the storage box and adjustable head angle. However, the shock progressivity flip chip is brilliant. So many bikes market that their frame as progressive enough for a coil, yet linear enough for an air shock. That's just marketing lies in my mind. Bravo to Trek for making the progressivity adjustable. I saw a fleet of these fuel EXs last week being ridden by the trek team and they looked great in person.

Seeing bikes like this and the Hightower V1 of say circa the 2017 era, which I’m sorry just weren’t especially fun bikes, become now these really well rounded rigs capable of ripping now, is pretty cool. Unless you are racing or going really big or especially gnarly, a trail bike tailored to the end of spectrum you want is really all many of us need. It’s a golden age right now.
@plmn93Ай бұрын
I don't know, I bought one of these and returned it. My 2018 EX was a lot lighter and more nimble with a plusher ride while still offering pretty decent pedaling and big hit forgiveness. Which makes it more fun for 90% of the riding I do. I feel like manufacturers are putting in too much effort to appease professional riders constantly pushing the limit like these guys instead of regular riders. This bike has it's place and is good at what it is but it is no longer a do-it-all trail bike, IMO. More like a short travel enduro bike.
@dadventuretv2538Ай бұрын
@@plmn93 Those older geo bikes were fine, but their comfortable riding window was more narrow. The new geo bikes allow a rider to go steeper and faster with the same safety net, while at the same time being almost as good in the smaller window- but with a caveat- you do have to ride them differently. And a lot of “regular riders” like going steeper and faster and have changed their riding to fit the newer geo. If you like the feel of what you ride and it serves your needs, why replace it anyway? If you do want something newer that feels like what you mention, just go down a model, since this evolution is happening at all levels. What used to be a model too XC is probably now exactly what you are looking for. For example the new Ibis Ripley might be more appropriate for you now instead of a Ripmo. Only place I have found the old geo is really better is at places like DJ parks. But for that I can just go buy a cheap DJ bike if I want, bc everywhere else imo new geo is 100% better.
@plmn93Ай бұрын
@@dadventuretv2538 I tried replacing it because I bought into all the hype from Pinkbike and others. I would say the older model didn't have a smaller window, it was simply a different window that was more in line with how most riders actually ride. Yes the Top Fuel seems to be more in line with what the EX used to be and that's what I'm looking for now. This bike is more cumbersome and doesn't carve tight corners near as well as the old EX. If you like bikes like this that's fine, I'm just saying that it's more enduro than a do-it-all trail bike for most riders.
