To add my 2cents ! Evolution itself cannot happen without a mind/conscience behind it since it creates new functionnality while following a purpose. Since human is the only known entity in the universe with a mind, we can deduce that there can only be 2 options on the origin of life : either We created ourselves or an exterior mind did (whether God or aliens). Since the dawn of history to this day, the 1st hypothesis can easily be disproven therefore the 2nd hypothesis is the most probable.

I agree, sometimes we take the Bible too literally and we try to force science to find answers to every question. Is there any middle ground where the two sides agree more about each other?

Evolution however does confuse death entering the world, Genesis makes it pretty clear that death was a consequence of that first sin, so if one as a believer is to say that evolution and death were part of the creation, it undermines what Genesis clearly says about sin entering the world. It is also just trying to squeeze a very modern idea into the Bible which is a little silly, it’s been done all throughout history, trying to squeeze in little extras into the Bible. But anyway yes, this isn’t a matter of salvation, it should never draw barriers between you and someone else, I only say this to anyone who may be on the fence about this issue seeking an answer, much of the Bible doesn’t work with evolution, so might as well just take God at His word here

I just think that evolution strips God of his divinity and power. If he can part the Red Sea, cause a worldwide flood, cause physical structures to collapse, make the sun stand still, or even raise people from death…then why not create everything in a short time?

You know what, yeah, this discussion mostly just distracts from the real issues. Young Earth is tempting because it offers a quick way to prove the existence of God. Old Earth is tempting because it offers a sense of being scientific. We need to tell the kids something, but otherwise, I think I'll focus my energy on more important things.

You should study Einstein's Theory of general relativity. in specific, regarding the passage of time as the observer approaches a high mass object. If the bible is correct and the heaven's were stretched out, wouldn't that imply that the stars and heavenly bodies where created near the earth? and wouldn't that have change the passage of time on earth? so the concept that only 1 day could have passed on earth but millions of years outside of the earth's solar system could easily be explained by Einstein's theory of general relativity?
