Sometimes evolution makes no sense in Pokemon. But sometimes there is a reason for it. With a comparison to a well known psychology concept, the idea of why Pokemon Require Happiness to Evolve will be evaluated. GO TEAM CLEFFA!

The thing that I like most in the Pokemon games is how in the new versions of Gold and Silver, you can walk around with your Pokemon. Whenever I turned to them, and it said something like, "Cyndaquil is dancing with joy", or, "Cyndaquil smiled at you", I couldn't help but smile too. Before, I would just catch Pokemon, level them up, and then move onto the next game. Having the chance to see that my Pokemon really were growing up and becoming stronger brought me back to the first time I ever played Crystal and Gold. Those were good times. ...I guess I kind of forgot why I even started playing Pokemon in the first place.

note- most of the pokemon that evolve by happiness are baby pokemon, with a few exceptions. The hierarchy of needs is most important for children, because these needs MUST be met in order to permit them to grow healthily. The others are either akin to really self-conscious teenagers, Or require support throughout their youth. They require these needs up until they finally become adults! That's what I think... It's just a theory of mine built off of this one...

Pokémon gave me lots of happiness. Evolving during the adventure, collecting all badges, trading with his friends and do battles. Visiting all locations and catching every kind of Pokémon you can see. Fainting at the Pokémon league and waiting for a new chance. I felt thrills and closeness while playing.This was one of the best times.

What recently made me happy: i caught two Larvitars in the Johto safari zone but since their natures weren't good i had to breed one with my Ditto to get an egg. The Larvitar that hatched had a neutral nature but i'm happy with it. You can't always get that Adamant nature 31-in-each-stat-IV Larvitar so you should be happy with what you get. I ain't even using it in online play.

For those who don't know, increasing a Pokemon's affection also increases its happiness somewhat, so you can have an excuse to play with adorable baby Pokemon in Pokemon Amie. Another good way is to feed it the right berries. Things like Qualot berries increase happiness while decreasing EVs, but if your Pokemon is newly hatched, the negative effect doesn't happen. It's a really quick way to do it.
