It totally blows my mind regarding Frontier: how can they creat such AMAZING dinos and also trees and buildings and can’t create better, more and also more individual decorations and skins. I mean look at those skins for the pyro raptor: AMAZING that’s what we wanna see, right? Well that’s what I wanna see like you evo. Why couldn’t be the mossy rocks and new trees be individual placeable blows my mind. Also why it’s easier to implement a few (most of them are imo boring) statues instead of bridges, waterfalls and cooler statues blows also -for a 60€ game with 20€ dlc where it’s all about sandbox and creativity - HELLO?! I can’t be alone with this!

yeah, but in fairness. Texturing is by far one of the easier parts of game development. Like I could dowload a basic software and texture a 3D model. Buuuuut Frontier really does seem to slack on 1 the ammount of content for price, and 2 the... newness of the content. If you really think about it no dinosaur in these games (and even less so the pterosaurs and marine reptiles) really differ that much. They all have the same behaviour, just looks different/move different. Or at the very least each category has the same behaviour. But theres really no difference between the hadrosaurs and sauropods. Really no difference between any of the armoured herbivores (depending on if they get pack hunted or not), literally no difference between any of the large to medium carnivores. And the only difference with the small ones is if they can pack hunt or dont. So... yeah. When you really look at it, the animals are pretty simple and differ little in what they do. See that would be fine, JPOG was like that, most zoo games are like that, and of course its limited by console. Buuut I feel like its also limited because of the management aspect of the game, which lets be quite honest, especially with the stuff around scientists, yeah it can be 'interesting' in campaign, but its mostly just a hassle. And like 90% player base pretty much only play sandbox, and choas and challenge modes if theyre feeling a bit different. So the way I see it, they really dont need all the management sim stuff. Because no one is playing the game for that. And I think that probably reduces the options for expanding the rest of the game in other regards, be that customization or dinosaur behaviour. If you look at games like Prehistoric Kingdom and Planet Zoo, they still have a lot of managament components, but theyre mostly creative based games, now they are also PC exclusives but they focus more on the creative, whilst I think JWE and JWE2 bog themselves down with being management sims and not in particularly interesting ways. Like, the managments systems in JWE2 are really dull tbh. Theres some good stuff, like the palaeomedical stuff, the rangers and the new rustlers. Thats cool, thats engaging. But most of the more 'park' orientated stuff is rubbish in my eyes. I really think if you stripped back the park managment and focussed it on the animal management, itd be better. I mean your animals dont even poo. I think also mating could be part of this, but of course that a super complex feature... but then again, zoo tycoon had it, but whatever. AND, I think dinosaurs should ALWAYS be trying to escape, at least every now and then. The animal managmen as is feels way too robotic. Like how can you scan an animal and go 'yeah this struthiomimus is chuffed about being in this tiny paddock'. No, animals ALWAYS try to break barriers, and test for weakness and at the very least try to explore. It seem odd that they wanna push the idea of chaose, and make it suuuper easy to control lol, even out of sandbox honestly. So yeah, I get its a park builder and not a zoo builder. But its an animal park builder, so I think taking out some of the boring park managment stuff (cough scientists cough) and replacing it with more interesting dino management would make the game pretty much perfect. Like routinely testing fences, having to clean pterosaur poo off the viewing galleries lol. Stuff like that. Guests would also help with being expanded, or rather completely overhawled. So that would be the more park management side. But these could not happen cos ud have to as I said overhaul the whole game pretty much. Which obviously wont happen, but maybe shouldve happened between JWE and JWE2. Like dont get me wrong, I still adore this game. I frikin cried because of the first, (brachiosaurus man), but yeah, I cant help but feel it couldve been even better. Also sorry this was so long lol.

Everything Frontier does is a mile wide and an inch deep. Its all surface level. Every single game they make follows the same pattern. Just look at Planet Coaster, or especially Elite Dangerous. Same thing. No depth at all. Basically their art teams are absolutely amazing, but the people making the game itself are either just not very good or (much much much more likely) are being constrained by management and not allowed to make good games.

This dlc looks great, but I am baffled that frontier STILL hasn’t introduced decorations such as bridges or warterfalls. Planet Zoo smashes JWE 2 in playability and they are very easy fixes. I would honestly prefer new decorations or terrain tools over skins.

So true. I'm getting so fed up with frontier still giving us this sad excuse for terrain tools. I wanted to keep playing this game but the god awful tools you have here result in enclosures being more or less the same. It's impossible to make truly creative/unique enclosures unless you mod the game. The worst part is giving us better tools doesn't seem to be on their radar when you go to their forums and see their response.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Atrociraptor, Microceratus, Oviraptor, Lystrosaurus, & maybe the cyborg Bary/1-horned Carno will turn up in a "Malta/Black Market" Expansion (perhaps with some cool decoration items like cages & underground Market items), while Moros, Iguanodon, & Oviraptor could be in a "65MYA" mini-pack. Frontier could be being coy about all this, since they seem the most logical routes for future expansions. I hope they still do "original" dinosaur packs like JWE did for more obscure dinos mentioned or with skeletons/models from the films (Alamosaurus, Teratophoneus, Peloroplites, Concavenator, Mononykus) and books (Segisaurus, Mussaurus, Othnielia, Hypsilophodon, Hadrosaurus).

Yeah i think that is what they will do, since I remember seeing somewhere that Frontier wanted to do more than just 1 dominion dlc. But, if they do end up doing a 65 mya pack, it seems a bit strange that they would have put the feathered rex from the prologue in this pack.

I just hope they add more unique, and individual placeable decorations, like trees, and rocks. And maybe some buildings like the observation log from the first JW, and maybe some bridges, waterfalls, or some new dinosaur animations.

I love all of the new content in this DLC... I even got stuck upgrading some of my older park builds with new invisible fences and tour rides by tweaking my parks slightly to match my original vision back when I thought tour rides could link areas of my park, so happy they fixed that! Love the new dinosaurs and skins especially the 65m year T-Rex. I must say though, Frontier could have really given us more buildable space in Biosyn Valley.... honesty.... I actually get upset when I look into the distance, into the valley and see all the space we could have built on.... otherwise it's a beautiful map.

The content looks really good, all in all I am happy with their pricing normally. It's not the best, but it's not the worst I've seen value wise. In this particularly case though I did struggle with price vs likelihood of it being free had the film not had a delay. I do think some of that content would have been there from the start. However since I just picked up the DLC for £11.56 I'm happy with that. Regardless of my feelings on price I know I'll enjoy the content, and at the end of the day that's all that really matters.

£10 seems fairer than £16, though honestly, this should be a free update to the people who bought the game early - sort of a "sorry we released an unfinished game and gutted this content out" I still think this DLC feels very sleazy and very unlike Frontier.

I really hope they add rotating controls to the new viewing platform. It has by design a 360° view radius and can be raised and lowered, which is very cool. But the model itself has a visible backside, which also can't be accessed from inside. So I'd wish they add simple commands to rotate the platform and the accessable field of view.

Thanks for the video! I was just watching the release vid and wondering if it's worth getting. I like the game, but as usual it seems Frontier are pricing things a little higher than reasonable. It looks like one I will get, but only if it's on a sale. €20 for a few hours of campaign and no new challenges, really is just a tad greedy. Just like the Planet Zoo DLC. What disappointed me with the dlc is that we dont get a full building set when the dfw has one, and for the hyperloop it only works for power stations the operations building and the towers, could we not have had a bathroom sized building to act as a station so we could have hyperloop for other uses than just connecting the towers to operation buildings, it could have been such a good system for transport but nope

Love how the "patch the gaping holes we've had since launch" PDLC itself also comes with dozens of gaping holes. I am glad that some people are excited about this, but all I can see this DLC as is Frontier making us pay for content that should have been in the base game, combined with a ludicrous display of halfassery in general. I am particularly annoyed at the fact that someone had to model logs and rocks and probably trees, only to have those assets only be used for the lame biome brush. Can't be that hard to allocate the funds and time to get someone to add those into the individually placeable items list, can it?

The main issue I have besides price is the inconsistent quality of the new content. The feathered Rex skin doesn't resemble the prologue version at all, and Quetz neither behaves like the movie or real life equivalent with its reliance on fish feeders, the fact that it flies everywhere, and its weird sleeping posture. The remaining content seems mostly fine, although some things lack a bit of extra flourish (Pyro doesn't have any preening animations where it actually plucks feathers, like actual animals do. This sounds like nitpicking, and I guess it is, but small touches like that really add to the experience). Anyway, in my opinion, the DLC should've been a complete Dominion expansion for $20-25 and included the remaining animals + a Malta map. With four animals, two variants and multiple skins missing, they're likely gonna charge $15-20 for a Malta pack, or they're gonna piecemeal the remaining DLC into multiple packs. Either way, we're gonna be paying anywhere from $30 to $40 to get all the content, and we're gonna be wasting time and energy demanding Frontier add the remaining content, which is a needless headache. I don't mind paying slightly more if the quality is there, and it just isn't quite there in my view.

I think it’s understandable for this to be a dlc , even though it was planned for the base game. Things change. However, for just 4 entirely new creatures (nearly 5 with giga), £16 seems a bit steep. I’ll end up buying it, but I’ll enjoy it that little bit less since I feel it’s bad value

To be fair you're also paying for a new map, campaign, and building set too, which is why it isn't priced as equally as the other dinosaur packs. This is comparable to mini-campaigns like the secrets of doctor wu from the first game.

Marvelous, I started using the terrain tools awhile back to create a huge mountain with the guest services on top and it slopes down to the rest of the park where the dinos are, wanted to use tours exclusively but it ended up needing too many tours which take up too much space, hoping this path system and towers will help

I agree with you in nearly every point, 8/10 fits because it's gooood but could be better. But tbf.. What did you expected from a always snowy map? I mean of course the textures are mostly white because it wouldn't make sense if it snows but the ground stays green, brown or whatever.. I think you can't blame Frontier for that

A big problem I have is that there's no Achievements. I realise its personal preference but I really don't find the more challenge mode aspects of the game fun without Achievements/Trophies

Does adding more trees with the brush tool increase the fog on the map? It looks great for a horror park design.

the fog does only seem to appear in densely forrested areas or at the edge of them

Considering content like the campaign and challenge mode were supposed to be part of the original game I cannot justify the larger price of the DLC. We are paying for stuff thatvwe should have gotten in the base game and that is not cool

7/10 for me, it's a great expansion but it's losing point because of missing stuff (the dinosaurs you all know) and small fails. Among the fails are some bugs that made it from the older build you tested weeks ago to the release without being adressed, like the bugued Dimetrodon social animation. I remember you saying in the video "could easily be adressed until release" or something like that. So seeing that this weird and obvious bug made it to the release is at the same time funny and sad. For the missing stuff, I'm kinda sad that the Biosyn style is missing some important buildings. No hostels, no lagoon or aviary, no toilets, only one attraction, no regular fences, etc As I don't specially like mixing styles, I will end not using this much the Biosyn style even if that's my favorite one, architecturally speaking, because it's laking so much stuff to create cool and functionnal "BioSyn property" parks/reserves. In the end we have to mix it with other styles and it's even worse for old consoles users as the game automatically mix BioSyn with DFW, the 2 styles that are the most far from each other, one hyper futuristic while the other one is hyper basic, brut, practical. One of the other missing stuff that make me a little angry is ... WHY NO HYPERLOOP ON OTHER STYLES ? (Or at least JW and JP) This mechanic is so good and at the same time easy to imagine for JP and JW (even if for JP we would call it service tunnels or something like that) that making it strictly tied to BioSyn is a little shame. And it ultimately send back to the previous problem : if I want hyperloop, I have to play BioSyn, but then I will lack many buildings. It's not like its the hardest work on earth to transpose this mechanism to other styles since it's a rather basic thing and you can hardly see anything outside of the small animation if you switch to construction mode. It's not an ultra visual thing and hardcore mechanics that would need a ton of work to match other styles. Lighter, it's also a little disappointing that we don't have the "Intelligent" trait outside of its challenge scenario or the poacher system outside of chaos theory (but here it's just to quibble. ) No "swampy" and new placeable trees for the new biome. But except those things, the dinosaurs and variants are beautiful, the new biome is excellent, the new campaign is cool (even if classic) , BioSyn buildings are gorgeous (if we except the lacks) and the free patch QOL are welcomed !

Here's the argument I don't see anyone making about the dlc being paid. Yes we got the fallen kingdom pack for free but wasn't Claire's sanctuary basically a paid fallen kingdom dlc? Like it followed the plot of the film and even had a sort of prototype chaos theory with sanctuary island. The only thing it didn't include was dinosaurs from the film it featured new dinosaurs simply because the film ones had been added for free months before the dlc came out. Should Claire's sanctuary have been free too? It was basically a movie tie in dlc Interesting side note about the placeable trees being different to the brush tool. Frontier have proven that we can have different brush tools from placeable trees so there's no excuse not to allow placeable redwoods on tropical maps now

It depends on it if you dont like dinosaurus but just sometimes play the game fun i dont recommend it if u are into dinosaurs and jw and jp i do recommend it

I'm getting the dlc for I've saved up for it beasuse the movie is the last jarrasic world movie so I believe that this dlc is worth the money for the skins and just for the movie it's self
