i remeber being a teenager around 19 years of age...and getting both the harry price books on the haunting...from my local library..they were and still are the most incredible books i have read!...they drew me totaly in...and for the rest of my life got me interested in the subject...im 65 now and nothing has changed my point of view that this was truly a haunting!.....

I find old-school stuff like this so much more atmospheric and evocative than the modern version of ghost hunting, with all its hysterical screaming, silliness and feigned bodily possession. Really great little doc, thanks!

I find this particular subject fascinating. I first read about it in the 1960's and never dreamed I would ever visit the area. The first time was in the 90's with my father. The church was open in those days and we had a good wander around both inside and out. Then, around ten years later I visited the site with my partner who is sensitive. She didn't get further than halfway up the path before she had to turn back. She couldn't explain the reason except that she felt threatened by something. I had a quick walk around the churchyard as she went back to the road. I have never felt anything in these situations, whereas my partner can sense these things a mile away.

Geoffrey Croom- Hollingsworth was one of the more sensible investigators of Borley. There is a lot of utter nonsense surrounding this case, if you take it seriously and read all the available literature on it, you will find it is really fascinating and it needs no sensationalism. You have to not only study the alleged haunting, but also the characters involved, most of whom very very colourful. The subject is a deep one, beware it has the ability to obsess! I have studied it for years and am still learning about it. Is it haunted? I am utterly convinced that many supernatural events have taken place there, the evidence is overwhelming. But please don't turn it into halloween horror rubbish, as this demeans the subject and all those connected with it over the years. This radio broadcast was a really intelligent and interesting programme, i wish there were more like it.

I can remember being about 8 and picking up a Ripley’s believe it or not book at school library about ghosts. I can close my eyes and still see the Borley rectory and the famous picture of the nun on the stairs. Adult me is just as floored today as I was then that the rectory is no longer standing. Thank you so much for uploading this.

I visited Borley church about 20+ years ago with a friend on a sunny summers day we walked up the church path and half way we both felt like we had walked through a veil of static electricity it was very strong although my friends small dog seemed unaffected. We were also lucky as a couple were visiting the church with the church warden so we got access to the inside.

Very interesting stuff! I was within a mile or so of Borley last night at Buchamp Walter! I have also seen the visual version of this documentary, there is something very ephemeral & magical about an English summer's evening in tiny villages like that, especially during those mid summer evenings where even very late in the evening day & night blur into one! Thank you very much for the upload.

It appears to have gone south when teams like most haunted got involved. We were in negeotiations with several television agents regarding running a series, but declined as we did not like their attitude and greed for an evening of "activity" which rarely happens. That's TV I guess, bums on seats and all that goes with it.

I was there on a Winter's night alone, by the church, i was fully aware of the ghostly sighting of the cat around the church, i felt something brush against my leg, i switched on my torch and looked down, but it was a real cat, most likely from a near by house.

I miss this old style of paranormal hunting. Modern stuff is just so much overkill. Too many sound effects, too much unnecessary screaming and exaggeration and very little substance. They are more like trashy reality TV shows than actual investigations.
@TheIndependentLens
@TheIndependentLens 3 жыл бұрын
They are trying to do entertaining television, not real paranormal research. Those shows would have you believe that paranormal events happen on the regular, which really contradicts past accounts/claims of the supernatural. If it happened that often we'd know far more about it.
@JJLewin1
@JJLewin1 3 жыл бұрын
@@TheIndependentLens Very true, it has become worse as many teams have no choice other than taking paying guests to some locations. We paid upwards of £500 to £1000 for an evening. In all honesty, I preferred investigating with just my wife

Fwiw, about 5 years ago, I was making a video of my 3 dogs playing. 🐕 No one else was within a hundred yards of us on any side. Later, when I played it back, there were 2 other, very distinct voices... not my own. One was loving - a high tone, almost like a bell. The other one - just a few words, thankfully - was so dark and malevolent, overlapping with the 'kind' one - that I was actually scared. When I told a friend about it, it was plain to see he was bemused - until I played it for him. It was years before I made another video in similar circumstances. I've always believed in the continuation of consciousness - just had no idea how thin the walls are between dimensions. Peace & light to all 💫🩵

@mortalclown3812 My dog died and I was very sad. That night I was home alone, on my bed relaxing, and suddenly heard my dog inside my apartment make a noise then a quiet bark. It brought tears to my eyes because he was letting me know he made it to the other side.
