Here the guys in "tape" take care of all replays, highlite packages, and commercials. The primary tool used in this truck is the EVS which is a harddrive-based machine.

I'm an EVS Op/Guarantee in the UK. I do mainly football (soccer) and I can tell you it is intense. I do a lot of small 4-camera jobs with 2 remotes. I'm usually playing out all replays myself, building analysis playlists, building a 40 second closer, playing out stings, titles, interviews and other clips and all the time trying to talk to a producer, an AP and a director usually at the same time. I just finished a job where it ended 5-2 and can tell you I've never been so stressed in my entire life. And then you have 2-EVS/3 remote jobs that I do! Believe me, if you want an adrenaline fuelled, fast paced and highly pressured job, go EVS! If only this video showed the guarantee side too...plugging up 6+ EVS's across a number of trucks with KVM's/looms and god knows what else is an absolute nightmare!!!!!

Yup. That's what it is alright. It's not often I see tape happening from control rooms, but I know they did it at MS before the move.

SpriJones - smaller trucks usually have production sitting with VT simply out of a lack of space! Plus, I personally prefer knowing what's happening in the control room...it helps seeing what the director is cutting to line. Oftentimes when using comms it can be a bit unpredictable when you're required to roll or play out anything so being in the frame a little really helps. Ofcourse with bigger jobs, production much prefer their own space and often get nicer treats from the unit manager as a result :(
