Misato did more of the pushing away on Shinji than Rei did in this movie. After all she was inside unit 1 all this time and tried to make sure it didn't activate or anything. Meanwhile, Misato treated Shinji coldly, didn't even look at him except to display a nasty look of disgust and eye full of hate in my opinion, and kept the truth from him which definitely didn't help only make him feel worse to the point where he would've gladly accepted his fate to die either by getting shot by Sakura or Midori and later on when Misato died he had nothing left to lose nor a reason to come back, so he was willing to be the sacrifice to reset reality. I don't blame when you're at your lowest point or when you've constantly been through so much pain and trauma and have never had anyone to help you and the one person who took you in basically abandoned you like your Dad and then protected you so you could make things right, but died to give you the power to end the conflict what will be the point when you're still all alone. It makes sense to end it there then continue on. I hate the writing for this Rebuild movies, If I could change something it would be Misato's life given back to her so she could make amends with Shinji and take care of him along with her son, Ryoji.

@@aaronsteel853 I can't understand your idea. This movie's important point is Shinji's growing. Through movie,Shinji is very childish. But,Shinji become adult at last scene. I think Misato,Gendo, and Asuka feel Shinji adult too. Shinji make a lot of mistake. So he should atone for sins. But,almost people is not perfect. This is Shinji too. Misato is very important job in this movie. She have to lead him as another mother, and to confront together. She understand responsibility. Misato,Gendou,Fuyutuki, and Yui need to sacrifice,to help the destined children. Evangelion cycle many times. But,it finished at Evangelion New Theatrical version. Their dead need to finish it.Maybe new world without Eva will be created by Shinji and other survivor. So,I think this movie's story is good and I like. I'm sorry,I'm not good at writie English.

@@sotttaro428 It's okay, you could've written it in your language and I would've translated it into English. It's alright 😊 Anyway, my point is Misato was there for Shinji as a parental figure. She was more distant and vengeful that she didn't even communicated with him. I mean she didn't even go to see like Asuka did, though when she did it was defend him from everyone's else's rage and disgust since everyone else carried animosity with him from since Near Third Impact. I mean it felt like she didn't really play a major role unless you count for the push she gave him by not being there for him since he had to find his own strength on his own. So, it seems to mean that Misato's role was poorly written.
