The sole available CD is not even publishing Strässer alone (clarinet quintets from him and Marteau). Thanks God we can listen to four Symphonic jobs thanks to you, Bom, and couple of piano pieces from Phillip Sear channel. I'm sure there may be more to enjoy if only someone "dared" perform .....

The weird thing is how these recordings were obviously made in conjunction with cpo, so you'd expect them to be released at some point. CPO sometimes takes a ludicrous time to publish recordings, so that might be the case here too; or they might not deem these good enough. But then they also published Thuille's rather execrable symphony and these are much better, so that doesn't seem likely.

Quite "german" in its backbone, reminds me Hindemith, Stamitz, Delius. The 1st movement is "inquisitive" and yet gets all possible answers from the strings from D to F major, remarkable the mastery of such melting tonalities. Thanks a lot.

Gran bella composizione, ottimamente orchestrata. Buona anche l'esecuzione e registrazione.Una delle mie sinfonie preferite di questo autore poco conosciuto .Un grazie a Bom per farcelo conoscere.
Thanks for sharing this wonderful symphony. After listening to all 4 your uploads of Ewald Sträßer's music I am of the opinion that this symphony is the best of the 4 works you uploaded. Although I won't rank Ewald Sträßer as a great master composer, I still think he was a fine composer. The second symphony clearly shows signs of Richard Strauss' influence (most notably Strauss' tone poems) and Sträßer used that influence to deligtfull affect in this symphony. So, finely a noteworthy composer who shares my name - well done, Ewald!

Thank you. Personally, I think the search for "great master composers" can take a lot of joy out of listening to music. I just try to enjoy.

I sort of like this work. No, I do like this work. Too bad it is just another great work, in a wide range of great works.
