This video changed my life in soo many ways. I literally remember myself turning off all the lights in my room and putting this on and just laying on my bed watching it fullscreen with my Seinheissers on full blast. I was going through a rough time in my 20s trying to figure out who I was, and Ewan Dobson gave me hope, gave me influence to just get up and do something, don't be afraid to be you and fulfill your own dreams. I wanted to meet this guy so bad, never have, but through his music I feel like ive known him my whole life (both from Toronto). Thank you Ewan for your music and everything you've done in your life, your a real treasure to me, and always have been since day 1. This song and Dreaming In Dortmund, will always be my absolute favorites. So much skill for one person to hold.

I began listening to Ewan Dobson sometime in 2010. Somewhere, in all of these comments, is one I made about that time. I don't remember how I came across him. Very shortly after I began listening to him, I thought "Am I hearing what I am hearing?" and I could feel my brain chemistry change. There are a handful of guitarists that have affected me in this way: Dick Dale in the early 60s. Leo Kottke and John Fahey in the 70s. Joe Satriani in 1987. Ana Vidovic in the last 10-15 years. Most recently, German guitar prodigy Leonora Spangenberger has had the same effect. But there is only one Ewan Dobson. "Blood and Ice" is the best guitar composition I have heard since Leo Kottke's "Accordion Bells" from 1996. Having said that, "Blood and Ice" is unique; there is no comparing it to any composition. When I first heard Ewan Dobson, I wanted to run out of the house and start grabbing people and telling them of my discovery. I couldn't understand why the whole world wasn't aware of him and didn't lay accolades at his feet. It's been 10 years now. Over 3 million views for "Blood and Ice". Many, many of the comments are ecstatic; the posters obviously fully appreciate and understand what they are hearing. It seems that he is finally receiving some of the recognition that has been so long past due...and goddamnit it really was long past due. He is without peer and a world treasure.

If you set out to achieve this with any other intention then finding yourself then you will never know this sense of self awareness, and enlightenment that Mr. Dobson truly possesses... New anime idea: An exiled outlaw from Japan finds himself in 19th century Mexico immediately prior to the invasion of Napoleon III's puppet ruler, Maximillian I of Austria. He is taught Latin guitar and mariachi style by a campesino in Veracruz State. Upon the European coalition fleet's arrival, he is caught up in the Republican struggle against the elitist- and Catholic Church-supported Monarchists. He ends up befriending an American Civil War vet who is sent to Mexico as a special agent by the president himself, just prior to Abraham Lincoln's assassination. They must form an unlikely alliance with turncoat Spanish and British agents to defeat the Franco-Austrian invasion. It will be called, "Mariachi Ninja"

He's redundant and Technical. Musically, he's boring and not very original. There's just not very many people that combine a bunch of chops together like it's a practice session turn into a song. First of all, he's not that fast when you compare him two other guitar players out there in all kinds of different genres. And playing fast is not what makes a musician good or what makes the guitar player did. That's why he's got to wear it fucking Karate Kid suit or a lamp on his head.
