Hey John G. Just to clarify, The Roxy is on the iconic Sunset Strip in West Hollywood rather than Hollywood. The two are not the same. Like Beverly Hills immediately to the south, "WeHo" (as it is sometimes called) is a separate city, whereas Hollywood is part of Los Angeles.

Well I think the thing is that Ewan has more of a musical type voice. Not only that but it fits him because of his accent so I think this type of song was a bit different for his voice. I've heard alot of opera type singers who sound terrible singing regular mainstream music. It's not because they can't sing but because that type of singing isn't for them....you know

Just found this video ..love Ewan, hes a great singer, his first love is music. However whoever miked this did a bad job and made him feel like he had to yell over the band. I like the way he soldiered on regardless. Im obsessed with this guy, it cant be healthy...lol
