It is also relaxing to watch you at your scrapping and learning all the time. By far you are the number 1 scraper in the world. Keep scrapping and stay safe. You are an Aussie Icon👍🇦🇺

I'm glad you addressed the repetitive injury potential around 6+ minutes in. This can be a big deal for folks doing a lot of manual micro-scrapping. The challenge is that there isn't much you can do to change the hand grip motion. that adds up over time.

I would very much prefer long videos and those who get bored after 10 minutes can go and watch the Kardashians or whatever since they're obviously not interested in scrapping and can't appreciate what a treasure-trove of information (and guffaws) this channel is :)

Hi Ben, I know I'm behind on your videos, but you are right about wear and tear on the hands. Spent several hours removing gold fingers off ram with a pair of pliers and I'm feeling it today. Thank you for your advice from a different video, I did take several breaks, but even still it's sore today.

Hey Ben, just a suggestion - you can film everything you are scrapping, but if it's something you have filmed previously just give a brief description what and why and then fast forward it with some music like form the Benny Hill show and stop to show the scrapping result. And when you put the clips together show the big pile of scrapping material like that stack of the computers in front of your shed and after the scrapping is done show the after scrapping result. I've worked for some time for a broadcasting company so I picked up a bit of knowledge about the film production.

I enjoy the long videos and like to fit them in when I have some down time. They're really quite relaxing/therapeutic? I think if you want to jump on the 10min video band wagon, look at individual item scraps and fast forward or skip like people do on restoration Vids. I know it's not your style (which I think most of us come back for) but it could get you more views.

I got an idea for ya. Ewery time time you make a scrap video, you grab å pc from your big pileblocking the shed., that way you make it smaller, and consistancy in the videos. Also closing up on checking out what inside.

I'd gladly watch a longer scrapping video. But I like a bit of variety, so if you're going to do a marathon of 200 PCs or 200 DVDs in a row I might quit or skip forward through the video. I watch you as I'm working at my own work bench.

3 Australian dollars rescued from landfill or from wherever that thing was going. The cash register tray - rather than replacing it, would it not just as well have gone direct to a cleaner steel pile ? Much of that cash register casing looks like hard plastic.

Cdrom boards are only $3.75/lb here in the US... you could probably work fast food and make more money. :( That will also give you an idea how little gold there are in the pins, too. Way more profittable getting a job and buying gold with the paycheck, I suspect.

Hi Ben, more great and informative footage, many thanks. Out of interest, are there any fees/bills you need to pay to be an eWaste recycler there in Oz? I'm a eWaste recycler here in the UK and its a minefield of fees and fines! I have to pay £850 every 3 years for a 'WEEE exemption' to enable me to refurbish and sell on and/or break down and recycle WEEE. I also have to pay £150 every 3 years to transport WEEE and other 'waste' in my vehicle. I need documentation relating to the source and final destination of the WEEE. The final destination has to be an approved and authorised location. I cannot take my waste to the communal household recycling centre, I have to pay to dispose of it (currently approx £140/1000kg for plastic) and have paperwork to prove this, and/or get waste transfer notes. All hard drives have to be either physically destroyed, or erased to UK standard, else I risk a massive hefty fine. Air conditioning systems and fridges, that contain freeon type gasses, have to be professionally drained. Venting to the atmosphere risks a £20000 fine. Companies and individuals can only dispose of their waste through a registered and authorised person (i.e. someone that's paid their fees mentioned above). Waste cannot be collected from the waste transfer station/recycling centre (such as computers dropped off by the public). I'd have to pay an extra £500 to be an 'approved authorised treatment facility' to collect computers etc from the dump, but 90% of the time the employees take the goodies out for themselves despite this not being legal for the general public. Waste in dumpsters/skips is not free for anyone. If the skip is on private property then the contents are owned by the owner of the property. If the skip is on public property then the contents are property of the skip owner, so skip diving is not legal, regardless of the fact that its unwanted and discarded tech. So many hurdles, makes you wonder whether the UK wants to reduce its impact on the environment or whether its government is more interested in making money from people that find new ways to make money (on top of income tax etc).
