Wow, after watching a lot of your videos and seeing this much scrap on the street in every video I just don't know how it's possible...in Australia do they only let you put that stuff out once a month or something? In America I have never seen nearly as much trash piled up outside a home before...

You tittled it very well. PC mayhem and cord food, Very appropriate considering that may have been the best scrap day with what you got in the minutes you put in!!! Not to mention the Caliper, WOW!!! I'm amazed at the things people throw in the trash. I've found many, many things. The best was an antique rocking chair that I picked up because I was always wanting to get a regular one (not an antique). I just never got around to buying one. I looked it up when I got home and found that it was OVER A HUNDRED YEARS OLD, & valued at $1,600.00 at the low end some have SOLD for as much as $4,000.00, I couldn't believe that someone thought it to be TRASH!! But My Treasure!!!!!

41:30 This looks like a x79 board. Mostly sold with i7-3820. Common issues are weak power supplies in these ebay plug n play machines. Not bad. This cpu can easy be overclocked to 4.7 Ghz with a cheap watercooler. Still a good comp today.

I live in Indiana. The city I live in has a heavy trash day the 1st week of every month. Here it's similar to what Ben is getting, he does have the edge because there's so much scrap (actually to much to go through) here we have it 12 times a year to what Ben has once or twice a year. You can predict that you can get several hundred pounds of Christmas light starting in October and a.c. units & fans in April, you can pretty much tell what's going to be at the curb each month! It's really a good system. Except it brings in scrappers from 30 miles away by the dozens. But I've learned the trick to get the choice items before the out of town guys/gals do!

They most certainly do in my neck of the woods. Better yet - a quick ad on CL offering to haul e-waste for free manages to get a LOT of calls. Tons of TV's and the usual PC waste. Certain companies buy digital goods like motors, circuit boards by weight, the laser diodes in DVD and especially blu ray players can sell for quite a bit, lots of value in things that all add up :) remotes, stepper motors in printers, fans, etc. And if you can handle it, taking small fridges, washing machines and dryers, old water heaters, for a great amount of material for not alot of time. Just add a few big tubs to the van and sort it out later lol. I like to hoard in bulk and take them/sort efficiently. Drill, mallet, Long screwdriver bits and my favourite for big stubborn items, my trusty sledgehammer haha. Steel generally isn't worth it unless you have a big van and space for a drum to fit all the leftover panels and plates to sell.
@sneakyguy44446 жыл бұрын
Can do ebay, online and sell boxes of assorted diodes maybe, might be lucky to find an electronics shop or ewaste buyer but dont expect as much. If it has a CD/DVD burning capability the lasers are alot stronger and where most of the real value is. Careful if you want to test it though, you can really hurt yourself. Still, its free money rather than throwing it in the dump, sometimes good components get missed in favour of finding metal content
@CODENAME6 жыл бұрын
Nice caliper score. There are a lot of fake Mitutoyos out there. If they read out to 4 decimal places, 0.0000 in imperial, then they are the real deal. If it shows only 3 decimal places then they are fake.

How often people left their private data on those PCs, photos, videos, online account passwords etc.?
@sneakyguy44446 жыл бұрын
If its a hard drive and not an SSD then the memory is still stored regardless. It is simply 'marked' deleted by the hard drive.

I know but there is software that can be used to wipe free space with several passes of random data or you can boot DBAN and wipe whole hard drive.
