Ewhurst Green Southern Electric - Green 10-car Electric Multiple Units on a Semi-fast service

Taken from the 'lineside' during the afternoon of the UK's hottest ever recorded day, this is a video of a 10-car mixed 2 BIL /2 HAL formation (more Ewhurst Green clips can be found on / @ewhurstgreen
The leading unit (2 BIL no.2019) has yellow warning panels; it was outshopped with these on 2nd December 1964. The inverted black triangle indicates that there is no Brake Van at the other end of this unit. It also carries UIC 1st class cantrail banding and air horns which were probably fitted when in works for overhaul and the yellow warning panels.
2 BIL unit no.2090 - MBS 10656 damaged in Eastbourne sidings when struck by unit no.2947 on 10th January 1965. Repaired at Eastleigh and released 27th August 1965. Unit withdrawn 11th September 1971 and is now owned by the NRM. The air-horns appear to date the model as on or after 1963.
2 BIL unit no.2134 - Roof of MBT 10700 damaged by incendiary bomb at East Putney 21st February 1944, repaired at Durnsford Road by 26th February 1944. The air-horns appear to date the model as on or after 1963.
2 BIL unit no.2142 had an unremarkable incident free history. The air-horns appear to date the model as on or after 1963.
2 HAL unit no.2611 was in collision with 2 BIL no.2113 at Wimbledon Park depot around September 1959 with DTC 12196 damaged and exchanged with DTC 12146 (ex.2113) from 14th September 1959. Now misformed, unit no.2611 ran in service whilst 12196 repaired. Unit reverted to original formation when released 16th March 1961.

Ewhurst Green is a fictional BR(S) 4mm=1' scale model railway which has its basis on several planned (but never built) railway schemes in Surrey (from Dorking) that may have served the villages of Ewhurst and Ewhurst Green (as a junction for Cranleigh and Guildford) on its route down through Midhurst to conceivable join the railway from Brighton along the coast of Southern England near to Havant, thence onto Portsmouth and Southampton.
Ewhurst Green model railway regularly has running sessions to generate enthusiasm whilst the layout is being constructed. Please remember there is no sophisticated camera or specialist lighting - just me, partially sighted using a hand-held Nikon Coolpix pocket camera under the trackroom's lamps!

Very nice. I pushed my BILs and HALs up to 10 cars a few times, but found the running was more reliable with only four units (i.e. 8 cars). I think I could fix the minor problems if I add more weight to the driving trailers, which are just a tad on the light side.

Apologies for the delay in replying as I didn't spot your message had been held back for review - perhaps KZbin did not like 10-car operation! 😉 Visually trains longer than eight coach trains appear to be too long. 🤔 Personally not had an issue with the weight of the DTC and m about to re-wheel them with Ultrascale wheels which should improve running.🙂 www.ultrascale.uk/eshop
