1980s The Star-Spangled Banner - National Anthem Station Signoff *note there are a lot of flashes*

Ok this isn't something I would normally upload. It has no context on where and when it was broadcast. I chose to upload it because I have never seen a two verse version of the sign off. I can't tell what the second verse is but it is not the normal verse repeated.
This came from a clipped tape. All of the commercials had been clipped on the fly. I don't know what market it came from and I don't have a good date for it, but the other content was from the early 80s (1981/82)
Perhaps a viewer can shed more light on this version. As the data surfaces I will update the description.
If you are interested in more commercials like this search "ewjxn" and what your looking for in the KZbin search box. We have thousands and thousands of more commercials in our archive. We add 5 to 10 new clips a day from the 1970's to the 1990's so be sure to subscribe for your daily trip back in time.
I have started to watermark my uploads. I realize this takes away from the purity of the content, but it has come to my attention that other users such as "king of Commercials" have been reuploading my content to their channels.

I can share something probably as random as this upload. The orchestra is the Roger Wagner Chorale. He was the older brother of Jack Wagner, the famous voice of Disneyland and Walt Disney World in the 1970s and 80s. If you were alive at that time in Southern California and visited Disneyland during the 4th of July fireworks, you'd recognize this music immediately.

@@ewjxnThank you for this upload. Nostalgic and patriotic together. For an instrumental version, the Moog Synthesizer version used in television station sign-ons and sign-offs through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s, done originally during the 1970s, is something else. There were said to be 3 different versions, but I find on KZbin one version, but what a rendition.

The original third stanza has been incorrectly described as racist by those who don't know history. Specifically the words "Slave" and "Hireling". Francis Scott Key wasn't talking about the negro slaves. He was talking about the British and their White slavery... The British Navy couldn't get enough of it's own citizens to serve, so they IMPRESSED people. Kidnapped them off the streets of London, and even in America. Google it. Hireling refers to the King of England hiring German Hessian mercenaries to fight against George Washington. Battle of Trenton NJ. Google it. I don't know what they're teaching our kids in school. But this was the history I was taught.

O! say can you see by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming, Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming? And the Rockets' red glare, the Bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our Flag was still there; O! say does that star-spangled Banner yet wave, O'er the Land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines on the stream, 'Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave. And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion, A home and a country should leave us no more? Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave, From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave, O'er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave. O! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand, Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation, Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land, Praise the Power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto-"In God is our Trust;" And the star-spangled Banner in triumph shall wave, O'er the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.

Sadly we may never know. It came off of a tape that I could not even find a city it came from let alone station.

If y'all wondering here's the Complete version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" showing spelling and punctuation. from Francis Scott Key's manuscript in the Maryland Historical Society collection. O say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming. Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming? And the rocket's red glare, the bomb bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there, O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave? On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes. What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep, As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam, In full glory reflected now shines in the stream, Tis the star-spangled banner O long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! And where is that band who so vauntingly swore, That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a Country should leave us no more? Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave, And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave, O thus be it ever when freemen shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation! Blest with victry and peace may the heav'n rescued land Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto "In God is our trust," And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave..

This is actually a combination of two or three different films used with the "Star-Spangled Banner" as TV-station sign-on/sign-off videos. The one starting at about 1:39 is a film by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints ("the Mormons") used by many stations in the latter half of the 20th century for this purpose, which can be seen by itself elsewhere on KZbin. The music may be all one piece, but the images are not.

I wish my home was as grand and awe inspiring as my teachers, family, and videos like this painted it out to be. Did something go wrong? Or were things always this way and we were all too foolish to notice? I wonder
