He is very correct in his assessment of Buddhism. I was ‘one of them’ for 20 years after being disillusioned in my Catholic faith at the time. I agree with the words ‘buffet Buddhism’ as I explored Chinese Buddhism in the asset as well as Zen Buddhism. When my own teacher said to me “there is no God, and there is no Soul”, I knew it was time to leave Buddhism. I had just had a mystical experience of being shown the magnificent beauty God has endowed Creation (and us)with, and Zen, as I encountered it, no longer had anything to offer; I had been chasing an empty, hollow promise of peace and no suffering in Buddhism. I went back to my Catholic faith a year after leaving Buddhism, and began the journey for myself of seeing reality as it is. Joy, pain, happiness, suffering, love, death…all experienced in my life were ‘reality’, and I began to embrace them as they were. The story of my journey is too much to give here, but what he was saying out of his views and understanding of Buddhism were what I lived in the Buddhist way,and they also ultimately led me to leave Buddhism.
