The best Christmas movie has to be A Charlie Brown Christmas!

Your commentary on the Mayan Rite is appreciated. Our Diocese in a large border city in Texas has a course on the basics of our faith which seems steeped in woke latitudes and local commentary versus sticking with the Catechism (my experience and take-away from the course). They don’t focus on the real and substantial presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist (building in fluffy descriptions of everything but what it MOST central to the Eucharist, AND the thing most recent polling shows many Catholics not understanding or believing in that CENTRAL Divine Revelation of our Faith. The courses address a “rite to move in and out of a place” (referring to migration; legal or otherwise, and an obligation to stand against those who say otherwise. It doesn’t address AT ALL what the Catechism says about sovereign nations authorities to manage immigration according to applicable law. Basically creating an us/them mentality instead of just focusing on helping our brothers and sisters here legally or illegally to be clothed and fed and treated in a dignified manner but whose outcome in residency and citizenship is a matter of national sovereign law. The course waters down the ACTUAL existence of Satan and the Demonic (I don’t think that was mentioned except in a commentary that basically says we’ve moved beyond that), watering badness to merely poor choices we make with no material corollary to the evil ones influence, and Hell being an actual place of eternal damnation. That linked to a watered down overview of Hell as an actual place of eternal damnation and unquenchable fire for those of us who remain unconcealed unrepentant sinners who don’t make an earnest promise to avoid future sin (this isn’t meant to be preachy, but rather instructive and out of love for fellow (me included) sinners). The course is largely focused on inculturation being of paramount importance while backhandedly belittling commentary about those “stuck” in the past over the traditional Latin liturgy. They attribute that among other similar LONG standing traditions which currently and previously FILLED church’s to beyond capacity at every Mass (I am a pre and post VII Catholic). clearly the curriculum developers never attended a TLM now or during pre-Vatican II implementation. BOTH are traditions and can exist in parallel, save the short sided and prejudiced indoctrination that you spoke to and seems to be slyly embedded in the course taken. There’s an underlying backhanded passive-aggressive disdain under the guise of inculturation and tolerance for the 2024 year traditions of our church. The course gleefully highlights that ancient Mayan’s washed their babies in the river after cutting the cord at birth. The commentary was seemingly linking that pre-Mayan Conversion, to the existing Catholic / Christian Baptism Rite versus how to clean your newborn before plumbing. Nearly all humans washed their babies and themselves in a river prior to that. Many did not become Christian and in fact some were likely the antithesis. Christ was Baptized in a River….he probably washed in / near a river before he was Baptized 🤦♂️

I understand how you feel. I’m a 70 year old Filipina and I do not appreciate what the Vatican is doing to our church. They seem to be dismantling it. I can only fast and pray, specially for our Holy Father.

Can you attend a different congregation? If people show their refusal to support woke doctrine it sends a message. Post what you wrote above on a one star Google review of your specific church. I understand your frustration. I'm from the pre/post Vll also. It definitely went to extremes that many believe was the beginning of the undoing of the Church. Since then the clergy have fallen away by vast numbers along with the believers. But many, like myself, are returning because they see a light in the window so to speak, hopeful for a return to conservatism. It's interesting how the 3rd letter of Fátima was supposed to be opened in 1960 warning of the fall through its leadership, but when Pope John XXIII opened the letter he quickly had it resealed, afraid followers would reject his plans for reform. He either rejected the Lady herself and what should have been a warning to him or he was so blinded by the Enemy that he couldn't see, or even question, the obviousness of how the warning might have applied to him. Either way he was corrupted by evil influence. Pope John Paul IV was likely voted in through the same influence. But I think many are seeing a light and speaking out and a return to tradition might be on the horizon.

Bless Pope Francis for chosing the kind of ceremony he wants. This is the one choice that isn't imposed on him. He doesn't live in the Apostolic Palace. If popes can change how they start their reigns, they should be able to doctate their final wishes just as any other member of the faithful.
