The security guard is ignorant of proper evidence collecting protocol. The police had no authority to collect fingerprints either and by collecting them the security guard made them worthless in court as they would not be admissible. He was well meaning but if he had been a good security guard he would have been more aware of a break-in.

some PDs legit do not give 2 shits. my local police refused to show up when a truck jumped the curb, destroyed my mom's car in a parking lot, then drove back up the grass and sped off because they "dont show up to hit & runs anymore" and that she should file a fucking police report. the only reason that guy EVENTUALLY got ripped up by our insurance is because a fucking employee at that Firestone jumped into his car and gave chase all the way to the dude's house. Lay out the solution for how the cops could’ve done something differently. Show us how your big brain would juggle thousands of cases and how you could immediately prioritize everything. You people will sit here watching cops solves cases all day and them recording everything they do and then you’ll complain and moan that they can’t immediately throw the entire police force at every missing persons case right away. 99.999% of missing persons reports like this everybody is fine they have to do something called prioritizing. If they immediately opened a murder investigation on every missing persons case they’d have no time for stabbings and gun murders where they know for a fact someone died

@BiggestRedditor First of all, take cases like this more seriously. Switch shifts instead of "being closed on certain days, and open on others". I mean WHO DOES THAT? Second, hire decent people. Not trigger happy cops with a chip on their shoulder. Thirdly, lay off the damn donuts. That list just gets super long. Do you realize the more "authorities" prioritize, as you like to call it, the colder cases like these get? Reason why so many *MUCH YOUNGER* aka Children become missing. And by the time your beloved cops and their "prioritizing" even gets around to things like 🤔 being open even on holidays to do their damn jobs their paid to do, as like the Sheriff's office was closed! Really?! Those missing persons become more and more endangered. Every second counts in cases like these. Not getting around to even starting a full blown investigation is called incompetence. Which is what these cops were guilty of themselves. Incompetence. Standing around while this family asked all of the important pertinent questions that should have been asked by them, PIs, detectives even. This police district didn't even have a detective division branch! So how about YOU tell US, how certain "law enforcement" can also tell people like a victim's family not to do anything? "Let them do their job." Yet they never get around to doing their job? With all of the money received & oftentimes, taken, and all of the people that could become a legit job for another decent police officer, they choose people who stand around looking like police? C'Mon! When it is one of your loved ones, I bet you have a whole different outlook with different words to throw at people then, aye. Bet. Until it touches you, you go ahead and sound the way you are here and now. Smdh

Even worse was she was found a week later, but they could've found her earlier if they actually went to that location sooner. His phone pinged there. Earlier than the other locations they decided to search. I met both Miya and Armando. Even tho I spoke to her once she was sweet and complimented me, I’ve always thought she was so pretty everytime I saw her. Armando came into my complex once to fix broken plug. It’s crazy to think someone like that had access to our apartments. Depending on the missing persons age they don’t believe that anything bad has happened to them bc they are older/an adult. They don’t think it’s necessary to start looking for them right away bc if they do they might be “wasting” resources on a person that didn’t want to be found in the first place.
@CoExist644 ай бұрын
They contradict themselves: the first 24 hours are important then also say wait 24-48 hours! If they don’t do anything immediately and you KNOW a loved one wouldn’t just disappear, then contact the local news stations and papers. It’s ridiculous, RIP Miya
@toyamwarr4 ай бұрын
Depending on the age of the person and the age of the people living in the area, law enforcement may decide to wait so the missing person can return on their own. They don’t want to immediately jump on finding someone who wasn’t actually missing.

@zee-fr5kw4 ай бұрын
@@chrisnoname2725 extremely easy: more funding = more people to investigate + more qualified people to investigate. More dedicated people to investigate. More training more pay, more desire for people to go into policing. Instead of police becoming private investigators because it pays more they stay police officers. Funding is the soul issue. Of course the police won't immediately investigate an adult who is free to disappear whenever they want? Police aren't magical fairies who know everything. They have limited resources. Absolutely, it's also important for parents/family to make their children feel welcome to talk to them. Sometimes when young people don't want to discuss their private life it's because their parents have made them feel judged, or used personal info to try to manipulate and control their adult children. I've had to do this same exact thing. The Howell County Sheriff's Department decided that my daughters murder isn't worth their time because she was an addict. We (my husband, myself and my daughters 15 year old son) found her unresponsive in her 12 year old daughters bedroom. We knew the guy (Anthony Martin) murdered her and her own cousin (Janelle DeMeulemeester) gave him the drugs to kill her because she (Janelle) was sleeping with my daughters husband. In Missouri, an unattended death is supposed to be investigated as a homicide. They didn't do this. They took no statements, collected no evidence except for her phone. I had to make my own crime scene collection kit and collect all evidence including vacuuming. He put fentanal in her drink. She knew something was wrong bc she made herself vomit but it was too late. I collected everything and maintained the chain of custody so when I get an attorney, it's all admissible. It's BS that instead of grieving the loss of my first born, I had to collect the evidence and go over her autopsy report. BS. Don't get murdered in Howell County, MO because youll have to fight like hell to get justice. But justice my daughter will have, one way or another.

You wait in line in stores, restaurants, organizations, service providers, etc. Why would this be any different when there's no indication that anything serious has happened - other than the family's hunch. I changed my locks even though the apartment said we weren’t supposed to after that and negotiated my way out of my lease…I can still remember my heart pounding when I saw that lock flip and both of my dogs had anesthesia that day…never again will I have multiple dogs recovering from anesthesia. @ghostface3655 So many comments are saying "defund the police" is the problem, but that was just a cry for help and never hit policy in any country. Police funding has only increased. Others are saying police are lazy or corrupt and don't do their jobs, but I've seen too many examples of good police work to say it's a systemic problem, it is hard work. Go out and knock on some doors in your neighbourhood, see what response you get, then imagine you are wearing a uniform the community hates. I've knocked on doors as a Census worker, never had such hate directed at me just trying to gather statistics to provide the necessary services for an area. Do you need more childcare or hospitals? No one wants to talk and be civil to any federal or state employee. I think people want good, but that definition is troublesome because for many that is a religious definition and others it's philosophical. The hateful passages of biblical text vs what the intended message might be. Jesus would be too woke today and killed again. I'm not religious anymore, but I know all the books of the bible and I know they are filled with hate, except Jesus, he was a great guy. Just listen to him, says the atheist. Do we know conclusively that Armando did in fact kill himself? It doesnt sound like we do. My personal theory is that the police force involved with this investigation KNEW they botched it after things got serious and they realized that Armando was responsible. I think at this point, someone in the family was done dealing with the police's incompetence and took matters into their own hands, killing Armando. I think this is supported by the fact that we have video documentation of those close to the investigation stating that he didn't seem torn up, remorseful, or scared. He seemed cocky, arrogant, and annoyed. I think that he was in the middle of fleeing, and one of the family members of Miya (God rest her soul), stopped him from doing so, permanently. I think the police involved also knew this upon examination of his body, but they let it slide quietly as almost a payment for fucking up so badly in the first place. They allowed the family to get that they were owed in a way, or at least that particular family member. If I'm right about this, I just want that family member to know that I support the fuck out of you and I think God would understand in this case.. My heart truly goes out to everybody involved and impacted by this tragedy. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope you can find some semblence of peace over time. God bless.
