On one hand they likely get a lot of calls from karens that are like "I saw this person and he didn't actually do anything wrong but I personally don't like him so I want you to pin something on him" because that's exactly why missing persons cases are so backed up in the first place, but on the other hand they really should treat everything seriously and see both people as people to scrutinize when they do try to get the full story.
