Small countries like Switzerland and Finland can only be neutral if the big countries (like the US, Russia and China) allow them to be neutral. And the US empire does not allow any country to be neutral : "you are with us or you are against us" !

Geopolitics like it is done by the current hegemon (the US) since the end of WW2, means a foreign US policy that strives to create significant advantages for the American oligarchs and plutocrats. Extremely simplified this mean that the foreign policy of the US has the aim to give large US corporations easy and cheap access to energy sources and essential minerals (mostly for metals production). For this, resistance of the nations in the crosshair of this US foreign policy has to be broken, and that the US military industrial complex lobbies to achieve this aim using military force. Once the resistance is broken (e.g. the large countries like Russia) are Balkanized (cut up in small territories) wealth extraction can begin by the US corporations.

@@vgstb A good description of how divide-and-rule has been implemented since the inception of the USA since 1776. First victims were their neighbours: the First Nations. The same was done. They allied with some, to overpower the others. Then, once they were all "down" in power, they stuck them into reservation and took the land and resources.

...joining NATO which publicly proved to be a terror organization in 1999 with the illegal and aggressive bombing of Serbia, the former Yugoslavia, is not a way to secure sovereignty, it is the opposite...keep it clear that NATO is America which openly demands to have world hegemony (the idea of Manifest Destiny was a major factor in westward expansion in the US in the 1800s) and violate international law, so joining NATO is pretty much the same as being occupied by America and is thus a move that means loss of sovereignty...and remember the word provocation is a legal term... ...this dramatic incompetence is the result of a blind trust in the Americans and their Israeli friends... ... ...the loss of the consciousness of what it means to be Swiss, what it means to be neutral, and how important it is for Switzerland but also for the world, I believe, to have a neutral Switzerland... ~ Jean-Daniel Ruch "The only sanctions that are legal are the ones decided by the UNSC (not by the EU, or not even by Switzerland which is according to The Washington Post the second largest sanctioning country)." ~ Jacques Baud

Thank you Ambassador Ruch and Pascal for this very sobering and honest conversation. As a Swiss citizen residing in the US (with US citizenship as well) the worst nightmare in my mind is that Switzerland would hand over the military to NATO, or for CH to have anything to do with NATO, Washington, London and Israel. I hope the Swiss people will vote against any and all such notions, lest they become the latest US colony, our beautiful country invaded by even more US military bases, and be dragged into wars, and be controlled by these psychopaths. I hope they look at how the EU is faring and say “no thank you”. Switzerland has diminished herself in taking sides; it is incumbent on her to rebuild trust in her neutrality. To do otherwise is pure madness. 🙏🏼🇨🇭

I don't have the answers how it exactly happened over the last decades, but many things took a hard turn for the worse once World Economic Forum's young global shapers were assigned high cabinet positions. Sanna Marin, the former prime minister of Finland is one of them and brought nothing but decay with her. Now Finland has a president no one wanted (and suspiciously few voted for) if you ask people on the street how they feel about what's going on with the government. Mainstream and state media of course covers none of it.

First of all, I am Swiss, 75 years old and have been living abroad since 2014. I have been following Jean-Daniel Ruch for a long time and I really appreciate his long-term perspective. You Pascal and Jean-Daniel should think about how the merger could be organized virtuell. For example, “the great Barrington Declaration”. There, divided into three categories, people could express their will with their signature and full name. The GBD brought hundreds of thousands together in this way. The initiators were defamed and censored. But, surprise surprise, one of the protagonists now has a important position in the US Department of Health. This is a great example of how patience and concerted actions in a worldwide network can slowly bear fruit.

Switzerland will certainly be neutral again thanks to an initiative launched in 2023. An initiative is a tool of our direct democracy (citizens decide). Swiss citizens will probably still be called to the ballot box in 2025. The vote has a good chance of being accepted, as the majority of citizens were very angry with our government for resuming sanctions against Russia. The text of the initiative is stricter than the original neutrality and will be enshrined in the Constitution. Switzerland is under enormous pressure and blackmail from the EU and the USA.

Ability to bark at Russia as three "independent european democratic countries" is the mineral they mine, because of tremendeous cost efficiency, one-two billion bucks "democracy building" bonus for any of them - is a potential thousand bucks for every single their citizen, it's a unique offer on the propaganda market.

@@KeithMelville there's some depth in that history, that is omitted for the sake of western narrative. USSR was negotiating with Finland for more than a year about the ability to build defensive infrastructure on some of their islands, temporarily, against possible Nazi attack, and in exchange was offering quite large territories in Carelia, permanently, which Finland consider historically theirs, but which were part of USSR, and modern day Russia. Only when all of that negitiations failed completely - Finland experienced extreme aggression. Their chief of army, Mannerheim, whom in the first months organized quite successful defensive campaign, was actually extremely against such stupidity, and even proposed to be that very person, who will put his carier at stake and explain people of Finland decision to exchange some Finnish territories with some USSR territories, only to prevent possibility of war. Finland was never part of the Soviet Union, the Finns gained independence before the USSR was formed, voluntarily and without a single shot from the Russians from the Bolsheviks, and moreover they received statehood, which they had never had before in their history. Finns have been part of the Swedish Kingdom for more than 600 years and had a secondary role there and were deprived of their rights compared to the Swedish ethnic group. Finnish historians are well aware of this. Later, when the Finns became part of the Russian Empire, the Finns had a privileged position there, and the Finnish nobility received the same rights and privileges as the Russian nobility. They had soft taxation, they had the right to print money and had very broad economic, customs rights and independence. At that time, no other ethnic group in the Russian Empire had such broad autonomy and rights. The Russians considered the Finns to be a close northern people. As for Finland's recent accession to NATO, I am sure that many Finns will later regard it as the biggest stupidity of their government in the future. And I'll explain why. Firstly, up to this point, the Russian-Finnish border was the most demilitarized. Russia had only small border troops and customs services there. Russia did not have any heavy offensive equipment or military bases near its borders there. Russian Russians and Finns had good border economic activity, simplified border control, and Finns and Russians visited each other quite often. And now, after the Finns suddenly decided to join NATO, led by the United States, good-neighborly relations between Finland and Russia have come to an end. Where Russia did not have Russian troops in the vicinity of Finland before, now there will be new military airfields, tank divisions, missile forces of all types and capabilities, and paratrooper divisions. I hope that the Finns, having joined NATO, will finally feel free, proud, and safe.
