What Sachs and Diesen explain in the second half of the video, also happened at the end of the "era Bismarck" after the 1890s, as Germany went into a new age of trying to gravitate westwards, towards GB and France. Letting Bismarck go, a staunch anti-French advocate, WAS already the diplomatic signal sent out to Paris and London, that Berlin was ready for the New Course. The New Course was of course not ONLY about internal reforms, but also about geopolitical changes necessary at the time of a change in the GLOBAL balance of power. *It was London and Paris which gave Berlin the "cold shoulder".* 1) First Paris, which allied with Russia, instead of trying hard at a rapprochement with Germany. 2) Then followed by London, which had superficially signalled interest in an Anglo-German Alliance, but (weird, weird FACT, exactly AFTER Russia and France placed Germany in the predicament of the "2-front war") and just after Germany became encircled by the Franco-Russian Alliance (1891-1894) stated in 1895 that it had not further interests in an alliance with Germany. With that the prospect of gaining a foreign navy to take care of its international interests had to be buried. *Let's not, for the sake of the "narrative", forget how a timeline works.* Only after that all unfolded (1 and 2), was when the "era-Tirpitz" started, and the intention voiced to build an own navy to take care of the own global interests, rather than via an alliance system with France and Great Britain. Any "narrative" stating that it was Berlin which would have tried to torpedo such a new global balance of powers would be flawed from the outset, since it already starts on the wrong foot: the advocates stating that would FIRST have to make a case for WHY the power who would stand MOST to gain from a western European alliance system and new GLOBAL balance of power, would be the one trying to torpedo such talks. Again, all of this "rhymed" 100 years later. Putin did not appear out of the blue in 1999. He came AFTER Russia's 10-year attempt at "leaning westwards" were all given the "cold shoulder" by the arrogant USA/collective West after the collapse of the USSR in the early-1990s, as Sachs and Diesen admit in their talk. Otherwise, great talk...

There was remarkable support from the United States via Lend & Lease deliveries. This did not refer so much to guns, tanks and planes, but a lot of food so the Soviet war economy could focus on producing weapons while the neglected agricultural sector did not lead to mass starving in the USSR. Furthermore a truckload of US trucks was sent to the front which helped significantly to move Soviet troops at the front. Also filed telephone and telegraph equipment was also sent which supported communication. But yes, the USSR invested massively with 28 million deads (both combatants and civilians) of which about 2/3 were native Russians to fight the Nazis. As the late Stephen Cohen said: It was not Private Ryan who defeated the German war machine.

Soon after Senator Harry Truman speech in 1941, if you look, you'll find Allen Dulles, then an official in the OSS, made his first contact with N_zi officers as early as 1942. These contacts eventually led to "stay behind" armies which caused havoc within the Soviet Union. These covert operations utilised N_zi collaborators during the war, who we today commonly call today "Banderites". Washington supported these covert operations until about 1954

NATO forces in Europe largely dissolved the biggest nations UK, Germany, France, Spain, Italy decreased their armies, reduced arms productions, etc.! russia, however, used income from oil prices to quadruple its army, because it was the plan go restore the empire russias lost in 1991
@BrennanYoung15 сағат бұрын
@@rh7018 where is there *any* evidence of a Russian plan to restore the empire lost? (It was not "lost". The USSR was *deliberately* dismantled by the Douma in Moscow). Are there any speeches to support your hypothesis? Any documents? Any military actions? Any single thing that might provide evidence to support the existence of this supposed plan to recreate the Russian Empire and/or the USSR? . And why did NATO refuse Russia's repeated requests to join? Would this not have prevented any conflict or Imperial ambition? Do you have a rational explanation for the refusal? Isn't this better explained by western arms manufacturers losing lucrative contracts because of the relative peace of the 1990s, and "poking the bear" to provoke a Russian military response so as to create a pretext to sell more weapons? Cui bono? Business as usual. The SMO has shown that Ukraine was indeed prepared to attack Russia (which it has indeed done, in Kursk region). At least 15 CIA bases were discovered along the Ukraine/Russia border in Summer of 2022, not to mention the various US-run chemical weapons biolabs, whose existence was openly admitted by Victoria Nuland under oath to Congress in Spring of 2022. Long range missiles have been launched from Ukraine across the border, targeting nuclear defense facilities within Russia, all with Western backing. Numerous western leaders have openly stated their ambitions for regime change in Moscow, and the breaking up of Russia into smaller states. Nobody can reasonably claim that Ukraine infused with western military support poses no threat to Russia. There is an expansionist military empire in this story. It is called NATO.

Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity. In 2014 there was a coup. Soon after, there was a massacre in Odessa (dozens of people were burned alive). Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. A civil war broke out due to the rise in ethnic tensions. For 8 years the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians living in Donbas. If Zelensky honored the Minsk agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened. The 8 year civil war would have ended and Donbas would have remained part of Ukraine. War is the ultimate failure of diplomacy. Zelensky, Poroshenko, Merkel and Hollande admitted that Ukraine had no intention to honor the Minsk agreements. Who didn't want peace? Who advised against the 2022 peace talks in April? Hint: someone visited Zelensky in Kiev at that time. Russia's national security was compromised once NATO began to expand eastwards. Russia clearly stated that Ukraine joining NATO was a red line (November 2021) and unfortunately this concern was never taken seriously. The Russians openly stated: if nothing changes, we will be forced to act in order to defend our national security. Enhancing the national security of one country at the expense of another is unacceptable. The Russians have legitimate security concerns. 20th September, 2021: Ukraine launched military drills with US and NATO. NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia (a direct violation of the U.N. Charter). We should never forget what they did to Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq etc. Who blew up the pipeline causing an environmental disaster? Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest. Zelensky tried to invoke article 5 under false pretenses. Remember the incident in Poland. Ethnic Russians living in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed. Poroshenko said, “Our children will go to schools and kindergartens-theirs will hide in the basements”. Russians will never forget the 2014 Odessa massacre. The whole world needs to know about it. Why was Denis Kireev eliminated? He was a member of Ukraine's negotiating team during the peace negotiations. He wanted to help his country. Ukraine has a hit list. They target artists, journalists and ordinary citizens. Hundreds of children are on this list. 13 year old Faina Savenkova was placed on this list. Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is on this list. Jimmy Dore (American stand-up comedian, podcaster) and Aaron Maté (Canadian writer and journalist) are on this list. There is evidence that Ukrainian troops have been indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas (they used petal mines and targeted areas where there was no military presence). The azov troops trapped in the azovstal steelworks in Mariupol used human shields. They refused to allow civilians to leave despite of humanitarian corridors being present. Russia held a proposed cease fire in order for the civilians to leave, but azov would not allow the civilians to leave. Ukraine has committed many acts of terrorism (car bombs and other forms of assassination). Darya Dugina (journalist) R.I.P. The first terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed the truck driver and the individuals in the adjacent car (innocent civilian victims). The second terrorist attack on the Kerch bridge killed two parents and severely injured their young daughter. I have done a lot of research and it took me a long time to write this comment. I have stated a lot of facts and I have given my honest opinion. I have provided a brief summary of events that took place. In order to explain this whole situation in great detail, a book would need to be written. Hopefully someone will write an UNBIASED book, stating facts and allowing the readers to form their own judgments. Everything I said can be fact checked and verified.

1. "Zelensky didn't try to prevent the conflict through diplomacy because he lacks honor and integrity." Refutation: • Before Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Zelensky actively pursued diplomatic solutions, including attempts to revive the Minsk Agreements and engaging in direct talks with Russia. However, Russia escalated hostilities instead of negotiating in good faith. • In early 2022, Ukraine expressed openness to discussing neutrality, but Russia’s demands included Ukraine’s full demilitarization and loss of sovereignty, making negotiations impossible. 2. "In 2014 there was a coup." Refutation: • The Euromaidan Revolution (2014) was not a coup but a popular uprising against corruption and Russia-backed President Viktor Yanukovych, who fled after ordering police to fire on protesters. • The Ukrainian parliament, including members of Yanukovych’s party, voted to remove him. This followed legal constitutional procedures, contradicting the claim of a coup. 3. "Ethnic Russians in Ukraine were treated as subhuman. Their language and culture was being oppressed." Refutation: • There was no systemic oppression of ethnic Russians. In fact, Russian remained widely spoken, including by Zelensky himself, who is a native Russian speaker. • While Ukraine did pass language laws promoting Ukrainian in official settings, this is similar to national language policies in many countries and did not ban Russian. • The vast majority of Russian-speaking Ukrainians oppose Russian occupation, proving that claims of “genocide” or “persecution” were propaganda tools to justify invasion. 4. "For 8 years, the Ukrainian military was indiscriminately shelling civilians in Donbas." Refutation: • The war in Donbas (2014-2022) was not a simple ethnic conflict but a Russian-backed separatist insurgency. • There were civilian casualties on both sides, but the majority of violations came from Russia-backed separatists, not Ukraine. Reports from OSCE monitoring missions documented Russia’s role in escalating the violence. 5. "If Zelensky honored the Minsk Agreement and pledged neutrality, none of this would have happened." Refutation: • The Minsk Agreements (2014 & 2015) were violated primarily by Russia and its proxies, who refused to withdraw troops or allow Ukraine to restore sovereignty over Donbas. • Russia never intended to honor Minsk, using it as a delaying tactic while arming separatists and preparing for full-scale invasion. • In December 2021, before the war, Ukraine offered security guarantees and neutrality, but Russia demanded total Ukrainian submission, which was unacceptable. 6. "Russia’s national security was compromised by NATO’s expansion eastward." Refutation: • Putin did not mention this as a reason for invasion. • Ukraine was not joining NATO in 2022, so Russia’s claim that this was a reason for war is false. • Finland joined NATO in 2023, yet Russia did not invade Finland, proving the invasion was about control over Ukraine, not NATO expansion. 7. "NATO is not a defensive alliance. NATO illegally bombed Yugoslavia, Libya, Iraq, etc." Refutation: • While NATO interventions have been controversial, none of them justify Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine. • Russia itself has invaded Georgia (2008), Ukraine (2014, 2022), and Syria (2015), and bombed civilians in Chechnya (1999-2000). • If NATO’s past actions were wrong, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is equally wrong-double standards do not justify war crimes. 8. "Zelensky banned all opposition and arrested a leading priest." Refutation: • During wartime, many countries impose restrictions on groups collaborating with enemy forces. • The so-called “banned opposition” consisted of pro-Russian parties directly tied to Russian intelligence-many were aiding the invasion. • The priest in question was linked to the Russian Orthodox Church, which actively supports the war. Ukraine, as a sovereign nation, has the right to prevent foreign influence from aiding an invasion. 9. "Ukraine has a hit list, including journalists, children, and Roger Waters." Refutation: • This claim is based on Russian disinformation. • The so-called "hit list" (Mirotvorets) is not official and does not advocate violence. It simply tracks individuals suspected of working with Russia, which is common during wartime. • No evidence exists of Ukraine targeting civilians, artists, or journalists for assassination. 10. "Ukraine committed acts of terrorism like car bombs and assassinations." Refutation: • Many of these claims, including those about Darya Dugina and the Kerch Bridge, come from Russian state media without independent verification. • Even if Ukraine did target Russian military or political figures, this is not "terrorism" but part of a legitimate military conflict-just as Russia has targeted Ukrainian officials. 11. "The Azov Battalion used human shields in Mariupol and refused to let civilians leave." Refutation: • No independent evidence supports this. The Azov Regiment, while controversial, was defending Mariupol from Russian invasion. • Russia bombed the Mariupol Drama Theater, where civilians were sheltering, and forcibly deported Ukrainians to filtration camps. • If Azov were truly preventing evacuations, why were civilians still able to leave Mariupol? Russia itself blocked humanitarian corridors multiple times.

Great discussion. And coverage of history was very educational. We need to hear more of this. He tells the truth. I’ve never heard him say anything resembling hate speech. It’s disgusting. Always enjoy his input on the Duran.

Ukraine's imminent loss of the war spells the effective end of the NATO alliance as we have known it since 1949. I hope that President Trump understands this and doesn't get sucked into the neocon narrative that the United States has to continue supporting the war effort. Thank you, gentlemen, for an outstanding discussion and best wishes from New Mexico. Greg

Excellent interview. My understanding is that Gorbachov raised money in the U.S. for a foundation he formed. He was no hero. Your enemy of years is not suddenly your friend. Europeans treat war like it’s a sport. They did that during the American Revolution. Today, war is a blood sport. Nothing new to the Europeans.

why have people forgotten about the US/UK invasion of Russia in about 1917 at Archangel?

I think people really downplay just how PUNITIVE Versailles was, given that Germany was not DEFEATED at the end of WWI. The frontlines were on the border of Germany, not inside it. Berlin nor Munich nor Frankfurt nor Hamburg were captured. What was agreed on 11/11/1918 was a CEASEFIRE. An ARMISTICE. So you can imagine the shock of the German people SIX MONTHS LATER when their diplomats agreed at Versailles to capitulate.

interesting and relevant . not easy to have these "opinions" in a scandinavia , a region acting as a complete puppet to the big master.

I'm glad this subject of Wars has been brought to the table. People like me are sick and tired to the constant threat of nuclear wars and all sort of wars around the world. One aspect is the created hate and hostility towards Russia. (with no specific or justified motive for that.)

Prof Sachs, Treaty of Westphalia was more of a formal induction of the Protestants than a political restructuring of nation states, could you comment on this ?

You don't draw the dots of who was driving the destruction of the competitiveness of a Russian European collective competitive economy. Started in 1776 and then 1812 which is effectively the transition from the East India trading companies in its history into America corporate in the city of London which is a continuation of the long history. Today's culmination of conflict led by the same cabal ave monopolistic corporatocracy embodied in corporate America. And indeed it has been exceptional in its success in destroying European Russian economy Inn world stability.

What prof Jeffrey Sachs suggested, thriving China and expand all the way to Middle East (the ancient Silk Road, when the Chinese was strong and the middle east region also shared strong economic trades, peacefully) and strong Westerner European influence expands to the East and the whole Euro-Asian continent is what the isolation of US fear the most. That’s why when Israel asked for land to settle in the US, US / UK gave them the Middle East.
